may end up returning the wind phone. the bars constantly fluctuate everywhere! 1-4 bars back and forth non stop. when i notice it and my land line is near i dial it and it doesn't ring if it is on 1 bar about half the time. the last time i did that it went in sos mode only and searching for network. seems a bit to unstable for where i am located. nobody else has experienced this?

What phone do you have ? And location

If you're testing with a low-end phone, you will have a nightmare on WIND's network. Like someone else had suggested, purchase the most expensive AWS phone you can afford so that you get the best experience out of the "decent" network.

In this order, from best to worse reception..

Nokia > Motorola > Blackberry/Samsung > LG...Rest

the 700 Mhz band is the Rolls Royce of cellular bands. this will change everything if the little guys get it.

I used to have a BB 9700 with Wind and it sucked so much. I was always getting dropped calls, missed calls, no reception etc... then I switched to the LG G2X and all my problems actually disappeared, using a S3 now and it's even better then the LG.

Picked me up a One S today. Time to check how the reception is for places I frequent.

unless this was over a month it probably has more to do with Wind's expansion and more towers

Anyone know where we can find a map with the expansion/densifying of towers?

Looking for a map that shows where the news towers are and when new towers will be built.

No idea if there's anywhere that says proposed upgrades, but...

ended up returning the wind phone today, just wasn't working out for me.. going in sos mode at home sealed the deal. maybe i'll come back when it is a bit more stable where i am located.

since i was under the 14 day 30 min policy anyone know how the billing if any works? i phoned into customer care and they said it is pro rated but that really doesn't make sense to me because i have a 30min cap on my usage so why should i be billed. in store the rep said wind forgives up to $10 so i'll either owe nothing or .86 cents..

that's strange. i've been around that area before and i've never had problems with reception. mind you, i'm running a galaxy nexus which may possibly be better with the signals compared to the blackberry you had. maybe if you had tried the bb 9900 it might have been different?

just... however many days you've had the plan = x

x/31 * $29 * 1.12 (taxes) = what you owe

How is your outdoor reception like at your home?

just switched to wind today. i was with mobilicity for awhile and while i was paying $26/month taxed included, i felt like it was unstable. i'm now on wind paying $31 tax included and hope i made the right decision. that's a $5 but whatever. in the long run i feel that wind is the way to go.

Graeme S 10-11-2012 11:06 PM

Just came back from the states and was reminded of yet another reason I like wind. Cheap roaming.

20c/minute for calls
15c/text
OR
$5/mo
10c/min
5c/text

If you do a lot of travelling/spend lot of time in the States...it's a very good plan. Keep in mind this is coming from Rogers, where I was paying, if I remember correctly, 75c/minute and 45c/text. Which can add up if you call people a couple times "I'm here" or "come out".

StylinRed 10-12-2012 12:28 AM

+1 for the roaming rates

yameen 10-12-2012 02:12 AM

how long did the port in take for you guys? i have a temp # area code 289 (wtf?). it's been 6 hrs and i'm just thinking since i transfered over during closing time, that i'll have to wait until tomorrow morning?

FerrariEnzo 10-12-2012 03:05 AM

when i first ported, it took less the 2hrs.. second, i think 30mins... it was fast..

dub.g 10-12-2012 06:33 AM

mine took 4 hours and the sales person told me it would take around that long

k3mps 10-12-2012 11:06 AM

Hey guys I was able to borrow my dads phone for the week while he's out and about. It's only been a day but I'll post some comparisons between wind and rogers (my phone) later !

yameen 10-12-2012 02:22 PM

they called me and said my port in number was cancelled because fido didn't allow it. i've never ever been with fido so i gave them my mobilicity account stuff and fixed it. it took less than an hour afterwards.
