Does the HTC Panache (from Mobilicity) work with WIND AWS?
Thinking of trying out the $29 plan.

Graeme S 12-16-2012 12:48 AM

If you get it unlocked, then any AWS phone will work, yes. Though I think there was another person about five or ten pages back who complained about shitty reception with his panache.

FerrariEnzo 12-16-2012 03:30 AM

the old HTC had bad chips and and lots of people complained about it... not sure about the newer ones...

I have the HTC Glaicer, tmobile version of the panache and it didnt fare too well...

Thanks to both of you.

@Turbo - Really?
Haven't had any problems since last september when I got the panache, rooted and unlocked it as well to try it out, but was too much of a hassle and I preferred (or grew accustomed to) the HTC UI .

Maybe I'll just wait...S4..N4? Wishful thinking..

Gnex is a great phone. I'll be handing mine off to my mom once the N4 becomes less scarce than diamonds.

optiblue 12-18-2012 10:00 AM

I'm using the Galaxy S3 and just updated to jellybean on wind. Everything went smoothly, but now my LED notifications indicator doesn't turn on. I don't even get a charge indicator light! Anyone else having this problem?

FerrariEnzo 12-18-2012 12:53 PM

Anyone know if Wind still offering Port-in credits?

SpartanAir 12-19-2012 10:42 PM

Bit the bullet, switched to Wind. $40 unlimited plan, and Samsung phones are on special, got the GS3 for $199. Plus the guy gave me a $100 credit, $10 off my bill for 10 months. I'm happy.

Even though I'm paying to get out of my Rogers contract, that savings will cover the stupid penalty. No more contracts, I feel so good!

I do hope the coverage is ok, but we will see, I have 72 hours till my number ports and Rogers is no more...

Ugh, what?

It normally takes 2-4hrs (6hrs max) before your number is completely ported.

I don't think I've met someone that took longer than that.

my led works, but dimmer, I read somewhere it has something to do with the ambient light sensor

DJ Milk 12-19-2012 10:56 PM

They let you pick when you want to be ported and 72 hours is the longest you can pick

my LED works but 2 things that seem to glitch out after going from sandwich to jellybean on my s3 are:

whatsapp, kakaotalk not displaying properly on my lockscreen.. when i get a message and i see the led light go on, ill click the home button and it will show the preview message for a split second then dissapear, or sometimes the top screen pulldown window wont show i have a message

my led light is my 100% indication i have messages

i use my phone for music in my car so i have it hooked to the audio jack, when i get a notification txt, whatsapp, fb or anything, it will beep then the music will play through the phone speakers and i have to unplug and put back in the audio jack

you're still technically in a contract because you didnt buy your phone outright. oh and IMO, wind isnt as great as everyone makes it out to be. ya its cheap, but i had a buttload of network issues when i was with them earlier this year.

TPMarko 12-20-2012 05:42 AM

yup technically it is still a 3 yr term because unless you have a lot of overages, you will not be able to pay off your tab in less than that. wind's network obviously isn't as strong as the big 3 right now. it works good for me because i'm always in vancouver, richmond and burnaby. haven't tested it out in surrey, langley, maple ridge, poco etc... but honestly i am probably out of the country more often than i am in those places.

Psykopathik 12-20-2012 10:03 AM

Ya service in surrey is kinda sketchy, phone didn't even work inside of my house unless I was in a certain area. Got so sick of it. Plus I like to drive out of the city in the summers to the oakanagan and there is obviously no service out there. Ya I can make calls on wind away but there's no data and thats what I can't live without.

RE-Jo 12-21-2012 07:52 AM

I did that yesterday, but still haven't gotten the email from them...?

^Same. People on RFD haven't gotten it yet, either. But the $50 bonus for new customers is valid until Dec. 31, once the code is sent out.

Anyone here jumped on their $29 talka-texta-data-holic unlimited everything (minus global texting and us calling) plan? I'm trying to jump ship from Rogers but still deciding if it's worth the cost to do so.

Spectre_Cdn 12-29-2012 09:51 AM

I signed up on Monday. Ported over my number from chatr in 5 hours. reception has been decent in Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley and Abbotsford. There was weak reception indoors in Tsawassen and in certain parts of my house in Richmond.
