its the new cash back card since mastercard lowered their 2% to 1.75% or whatever it is now.

It's a decent card. But you're forgetting the $99 annual fee and the $300 cash back cap on the 5%.

I actually just demoted the card to the regular cash back card last year before the annual fee hit. For those who are interested, the rebate comes in September, so plan accordingly if don't plan on keeping it long term.

What Mastercard are you referring to that gives 1.75% back? That's not a bad return for things that aren't grocery/gas/restaurants/travel/recurring bills.

Sometimes it keeps asking me to verify.

The card is great though, with the points and occasional shoppers drug mart bonus days i.e/ 300 points to 450 redemption. Since signing up, I've probably got about 600? bucks back in points. Since over a year ish.

If you have a family, the PC Insider program at 50% often is great. A friend saved a bunch during a diaper deal they had.

Yup, stuck and can't get past the verify account part but for now I'll let it slide because at the end of the day the reason I got the card was points. I was already earning a lot of points just off of weekly and random in store deals and now it's even crazier. I already earned almost $50 in just over 2 weeks with 4 trips to the store and only 1 of those purchases were over $100, barely too.

Rogers RW WE is the one giving 1.75% domestic purchase and 1.5% foreign purchases after fees.

sorry i was wrong. its 1.67%

MBNA world elite cash back. used to be 2% lowered end of last year. and the 99 fee is 120 now.

thats why im switching to AMEX. yeah the 300 dollar cap sucks. but thats 6000 dollars over 6 months. its alright for the average person that spends 1000 bux a month.

but over the long run 2% is a lot vs 1.67%...

Any suggestions on a new business credit card.

Annual volume $600,000.
Spread across 7 company cards.
Need a far better online experience then what we currently have.

We have our business credit card with coast capital Desjardin. Currently get 1% back up until $500,000 spent and $40 per card. So we get $5000 back, minus $280.00.

Also issue with Amex is that some of our big purchasers don’t take Amex. I would say Amex potential would be around $150,000 a year.

I have a client that uses strictly AMEX products for business. Both US and Canada. They use AMEX Platinum, Business Gold, Starwood Preferred.

Their annual volume is $900,000 (this year)

Check our r/Churning for ways to maximize the benefits.

Personally, I would use AMEX when I could, their points system is the most versatile. For the balance, I would consider the Rogers WE at 1.75% cashback or go for BMO Air Miles or CIBC/RBC cards.

With that much purchasing power, you could spread it over multiple cards and get benefits from all of them

Nlkko 02-08-2019 01:34 AM

I haven't worked at a business whose main card isn't an Amex. stick with the proven.

SFU_wmc 02-08-2019 09:18 AM

I know $600,000 - $900,000 may not sound a lot for a business.
But I'm just curious what kind of purchases are you guys putting through?
I would have thought / expect most B2B require payment by cheque or bank transfers?

XplicitLuder 02-08-2019 10:42 AM

Ive been using TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa for the last 2 years or so and tbh I don't think this is the card for me. I wanted a travel card, and I fly on Star Alliance partners about 1-3 times a year so I figured the aeroplan points would be great for me, but ive yet to really used them..i feel like I could have had a diff card for the last 2 years and taken more advantage of them lol Anyone got recommedations? I spend about 1-1.2k a month on the card, and I don't mind paying a fee if its worth it (this one has a 90$ fee I think)

but my dilemma is now what card should I get and what do I really want from the card , since I feel lost as to what I want from it

We have retail cafe’s and a manufacturing arm of our food business. So packaging from all our vendors we pay through Visa, and a good majority of our all bulk ingredients we purchase online so therefore visa. Essentially because so much is purchased online now, less vendors take cheque because the speed is so much faster to place orders.

BIC_BAWS 02-08-2019 07:27 PM

Most vendors that take online payment take PayPal. That's how I usually bypass the no AMEX issue.

TD Aeroplan Business and Personal

Wife and I get enough points to fly business class each year for our vacations

Some changes for the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite card.

It might help some people, it might not.
But the annual fees are also being increased, and that might make me want to switch.

bump. any good cards lately? We have been using Tangerine for my family and the cash back is pretty low now. I think 0.5%, no annual fees.

Spending: $4000/month on average
Criteria in this priority:
1. Cash back
2. Travel perks

I already have a 1% cash back no annual fee card for my own expenses.

tiger_handheld 10-06-2019 11:44 AM

Any good hotel cards - looking to get hotel nights.
not considering AMEX hotel cards due to poor acceptance.

For cash back, the Rogers Bank World Elite Mastercard gives 1.75% cash back. It also gives 1.5% net cash back on foreign currency transactions so it could be used as a travel card. It has no annual fees but have a minimum income requirement of $80K or $150K household.

Looks like Amazon's Rewards MasterCard is back, with MBNA. Offering 5% CB on the first $3000.00 of qualifying purchases (eligible Amazon purchases, Whole Foods Market, Grocery Stores, Restaurants) on the first 6 months

After 6 mo:

If you have prime: 2.5% on eligible purchases at Amazon.ca, Whole Foods Market stores in Canada, and foreign currency transactions, and 1% back on all other eligible purchases, if you have Prime.

If you do not have prime: 1.5% back on eligible purchases at Amazon.ca, and Whole Foods Market stores in Canada, and 1% back on all other eligible purchases including foreign currency transactions

Eligible purchases at:
  • Amazon.ca are: Digital downloads, Amazon.ca Gift Cards, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and eligible items sold by third-party merchants through Amazon.ca’s marketplace
  • Whole Foods Market stores in Canada: All purchases and online orders picked up at the store.
  • Foreign transactions: Purchases charged to our Amazon.ca Rewards Mastercard in a foreign currency.
CB is paid out in Amazon points, where 100 pts = $1. Upon reaching 2000pts, a $20 Amazon GC will be issued. Biggest perk for me is the effective no fx fee. CAR PARTS!!!

DJ Milk 10-28-2019 08:37 PM

So it's not a true forex fee free card. They still charge the forex fees of 2.5%, so it will be net zero because you'll get 2.5% back in Amazon points.

Quote:

Foreign exchange fees are still applicable on all foreign transactions and are determined by the MBNA, a division of The Toronto-Dominion Bank. Please note that the amount of foreign exchange fees may equal or exceed the % back earned on foreign currency transactions.

HonestTea 10-28-2019 09:15 PM

Recently signed up for the AMEX Platinum. Surprised a premium travel card like this, still charges a 2.5% FX fee..

Yes, but it's better than nothing. The alternative option is to have a CB card higher than the 2.5% fee, which it's quite hard to find a card with more than 2.5% cb standard and no annual fees.

Rogers Platinum is the only one off the top of my head with no AF and net zero FX fee?

Good point, I don't have Fido/Rogers, so I don't use it.

I believe Rogers Mastercard allows you to earn cash back on purchases made in foreign currencies. A forex fee might still be charged, but the cash back is sufficient to cover it to yield a net gain.
