You guys are still getting dinged on the banks foreign exchange for that specific day. If youre willing to go through that HomeTrust deal headache you may as well spring for the USD BMO card and pay the $65 fee but get it back for free after $1000 spend. I just pay off the US balance every month in person. Lets you load up buying USD at cheap rates too.

this is what my wife and i have, she used to work for BMO (her aunt still does) so we get USD at employee rate

only shitty thing is US costco doesn't take MC only VISA

FerrariEnzo 04-20-2018 04:56 PM

Well.. My HomeTrust Visa just came in.... Didnt really have to wait all that long.. As long as it came in before Aug is fine.. lol I have a trip to disneyland coming up.. haha

MG1 05-01-2018 07:59 AM

I just got my e-mail that the Home Trust Visa was approved. That was faster than I thought, lol.

EDIT: I reread the e-mail. It stated, approved and card has been mailed.

Acura604 05-01-2018 10:07 AM

Got my hometrust a few days ago..it didnt really take that long at all but definitely longer than your typical bank/rbc/bmo card.

FerrariEnzo 05-01-2018 06:03 PM

Got mine last week.

I hate the fact that you cant change PIN on it..

ray666 05-01-2018 10:50 PM

for the people who are telling us "it didn't take that long," do you mind actually saying how long it took?

TOS'd 05-01-2018 11:44 PM

Did anyone who submitted the extra 3 pieces of required info get theirs yet? Or an email saying its on its way?

I got an approval email a couple days later after submitting 3 pieces of required info. A week later, now today, I received my Pin code and it says my card should arrive within a week.

New card out, Brim Financial. No foreign transaction fees, basic card has no annual fee. Free WiFi hotspot membership. Anyone heard of this company before?

Never heard of until I read it on reddit and RFD. I actually went to begin my application process, but I applied for the 5% cb on anything AMEX card instead.

Brim will likely be my main card next year when I cancel my AMEX card, for the no FX fee benefits.

There's a member here who actually finished the process for Brim.

I called HT, they said thay have all my submitted docs and will "escalate" my application and that I should hear back soon.

Armind 05-08-2018 09:33 AM

Thoughts on getstack.ca? Their card looks pretty slick but.....

Brim Mastercard - No-Fee Foreign Exchange Card! - Page 42 - RedFlagDeals.com Forums

Sounds shady af

I would suggest Rogers MC for no-fx cc (technically 2.5% fee but 4% cashback).... at least the chances of Rogers going down is a lot smaller than some shady ass financial company.

Yeah but my company pays for my phone bill. So the CB on Rogers/Fido card is useless, because afaik it applies as Rogers/Fido points?

Not true -- you can apply the points to whatever purchase you designate. Last time when I did it, I went to the points / rewards section of the page, changed a setting somewhere that says "Apply points to my next purchase". Then I ran my purchase through, and voila~ The points gets applied to that next purchase I did.

According to the Rogers website, you can also retroactively apply points to a purchase that you have already made, but I haven't tried that yet.

Also, a note to point out regarding jackmeister's comments on the no-fx cc (technically 2.5% fee but 4% cashback) -- bear in mind that they are watering down this perk into something that is no longer very meaningful some time in late May. Instead, the same perk (2.5% fee + 4% cashback) is reserved for their higher tier card that requires some sort of high income. This makes the Rogers MC no longer attractive, which is why people are saying they want the HT VISA instead.

Has anyone switched to the "high income" Rogers/Fido Mastercard yet? I've yet to call in to ask for it but I'll probably do it this week.

Is anyone using it right now? Did you keep the same CC number?

I'm using the old one while waiting for the new card.

The bonus rewards activates sometimes late May and you get a new card in June. It is a different number.
