BBC News - Viewpoint: Apple's iPhone launches no longer excite

"To use a car analogy, six years ago the iPhone was like a sexy new flagship model from BMW or Porsche. Today it's a Toyota Camry. Safe, reliable, boring. The car your mom drives. The car that's so popular that its maker doesn't dare mess with the formula."

around 10 am.

I predict a big MEH. only a few iOS upgrades and neat software tricks. Hardware wise, you will be underwhelmed. Apple fans will proclaim its the best thing since Jesus.

I mean shit, phones overall have come to a plateau where its all the same. now if they can add a function to make bacon on your ride to work.....

I would be really surprised if it's only a couple of small upgrade. Mainly because this is Steve Jobs last work so why only bring out a couple upgrades and a bit of a different look at everyone is saying.

Hehe 09-12-2012 07:36 AM

I am expecting a "meh" too.

Apple already revealed much of the new features in iOS6 announcement. iPhone5 is simply the first phone to have it and thus closer integrated.

There isn't likely any new WOW feature that we would see hardware-wise.

Will this event be broadcasted on TV or a live stream somewhere?

326ppi Retina display, 4-inches. 1136 x 640 resolution. Same width, but taller.

It's the thinnest and lightest iPhone yet. Weighs 112 grams. 20% lighter than the 4S. 7.6mm thick, 18% thinner than before

Um... making it 20% lighter and 17% thinner while improving the camera, CPU, screen, battery life, and connectivity is not exactly easy...
