Google delays some Nexus 4 orders by up to three weeks after 'overwhelming demand' | The Verge

The Nexus 7, released earlier this year, also sold out quickly, but so far the Nexus 4 has been particularly difficult to buy. That could be because of demand, or just because Google didn't produce a particularly big first run of its new flagship device.

so im going to go out on a limb here and say any one who didn't manage to buy it within the 20 minutes won't get it til 2013

So much for getting it this year. If even the first early orders are gonna be backordered for 3 weeks new stock will be at least that long as a minimum.

IMHO they should keep taking online backorders.

Google is giving me hope... after making me flip a few tables with the backorder email..
Contacted them and they said my order should be shipped out this evening. Let see what happens since the east coast is already evening.

Same here. Surprisingly the service used was UPS Standard, meaning it won't be here until next week. One would expect UPS Express since the shipping cost was almost $20.

I got the email that mine's shipped today, too. Honestly haven't looked at it yet.

Incidentally, they're shipping from Louisville, Kentucky.
