But it seems the new lines of S3/S4/Note3 have a special regional lock on it. So even if you manage to root it and unlock it, you can only used it within N.America.

I got a deal on my S4 through fido so I have no choice but pick it up at a Fido store but I heard from the rep there, if you can try to pick up your Samsung phone from the Samsung store in metrotown as they are unlock and have no regional lock.

Edit regarding the cell phone case I got it where the computer shop used to be (around the HSBC area). I believe is the 3rd store? They only sell cell phone cases, usually is a guy working there with music on.

I seem to find the battery life decent but not as good as I expected it. The phone is off charger from about 10am and the battery is down to 19% right now. With light usage (I think I check E-mails 5 to 7 times manually, around 10mins talk time, 30 or so what's app/text/line message, a bit of downloading apps and changing the settings on the phone). Overall I think for my needs I will need to charge the phone at least an hour so so during the day if I want to get the same usage I had on my note2. Definity not something I like from my phone lol, but then Note2 is just a best in the battery dept. Sigh maybe I should sell the S4 and use the money towards a Nexus 5 or get an unlock LG G2.

Note 3 has already been unlocked by chainfire.

anyone having issues with the S4 camera focusing properly? The camera on mine is hard to focus, ends up with a lot of blurry pics.

depends how badly you brick. I soft bricked my gf's new S4 and restored it flashing stock firmware via odin. If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash stock firmware + pit file via odin but that will wipe all your data. If that doesn't work, then your phone is fucked :P

As much as I love the specs on the S4, I don't think I'll ever get another phone besides a nexus. It's literally impossible to brick these things.

I flash it to vision and it works great decided to try a different kernel and that fucked my phone lol. Had to bring to the store to get fixed. try looking on XDA but they don't have the stock firmware for Fido/Rogers. Ended up costing $25 oh well........

Is the S4 AOSP ROM friendly? When I had the S3 AOSP ROMs never really ran smoothly.. there was almost always something not working.
