Why does the S4 have such a shitty camera?

I would say is decent but I find when talking HDR pictures it takes time to process while on the 5s is fine.......

If you're not on 4.3 yet, I would try custom roms now before updating the official 4.3.

4.3 has the Knox security bootloader update. From what I've gathered it's a pain in the ass, since it will flag your device as custom on a bootloader level after you use a custom firmware. It will then prevent you from going back to a stock samsung firmware.

On 4.2.2 there is the custom flag, but there are ways to get rid of it and go back to stock.

I made the jump to avoid the whole 4.3 Knox deal and installed the Goldeneye firmware. It's pretty much a lightweight version of 4.3 Touchwiz with all the features, but without most of the crapware. I mainly stuck with Touchwiz because I like the Samsung camera functions, which are not available on stock android.

so I might pull the trigger on the S4 from rogers because I have a hard ware upgrade of $50 and the phone is only $50.

It is the 16GB version, is this the only version of the s4? I dont watch much videos with my phone so I think it should be enough

I am upgrading from a blackberry so I think the s4 should be a faster phone when using the internet right?

You could use a sd card to expand the storage up to 64gb

for me, the stock Samsung browser alone was enough for me to update to 4.3

Is it better than Chrome?

it's actually a really good camera. I haven't seen better lowlight performance from any other manufacturers.

My first s4 had a faulty camera and would get blurry pictures, the new one is amazing.

Don't have an answer for that since I never used Chrome and don't have any plans to.

Chrome has one hand zoom. Until browsers and other apps come out with that, nothing beats Chrome.

I have S Planner and Google Calendar App (GCA) installed. I have set up permissions between my phone and my wife's phone to share calendars. Whenever I put an entry in, my wife's phone would get synced and updated with my calendar. However, when my wife puts in an entry, my S Planner and GCA does not update/sync. Nor will it show past entries of hers. Anyone able to shed some light? My wife has an iPhone and i have S4.

have they fixed the 4.3 issues yet? or should i hold off?

Do you just keep the camera mode in auto because the picture sometimes doesn't turn out clear unless i hold it on the same spot for a few seconds. Which means i can never get a clear shot quickly. :badpokerface:

My touchscreen is no longer responsive after installing a new Xtremeguard screen protector, so I did what any logical person would do after, and promptly removed said protector. Touchscreen still doesn't work though.... Guess I need to take it in. If I take it back to the store I bought the phone from, would they just send it off to the Samsung repair centre? Would I be better off taking it to the service center myself then?

yes mines been in auto all the time and it's super fast and clear. You might have a faulty camera hardware. My first s4 would take blurry pictures no matter what, I brought it in a got a new one that works awesome.

Thats exactly what a carrier store would do.

has anyone experienced "camera failed" on their phone? I just got mine a few days ago and when i go to my camera, the screen is black and lags when you want to select options

There is a button for a 2 way camera, the camera facing yourself works fine but the one on the back does not operate

I've cleared the cache and data and tried re-booting and resetting it but they all dont work
