Manic, you should check your local Best Buy.

Apparently there are EVGA RTX 3060s and 3070s in stock for in-person purchasing.

From what I heard, Bestbuy is stopping online releases and moving them all into stores, not sure how true it is but there was a small drop at the Guildford BB last week..

Flexpool is going to be starting a Chia mining pool. The Chia plotting code is not that optimized but is open source. Flexpool will be releasing there own miner that will increase the speed of mining. This is really good news for the small time miner.

I feel like this won't be that far off.

I remember in 2017 when BTC went from 20k and slowly settled around $3k and no one wanted to buy. I can see that happening this time around too.

I would guess, it will settle around $10000 by looking at the ratio and graph.

I am thinking selling some of my rigs before Video cards flooooods the market.

It's really interesting. I only started to seriously get into finance around 2015ish and i've only experienced two booms and busts in my investing career. The crypto crash is 2017 and the marijuana crash is 2018/19.

I feel like if the market drops again, i'm actually going to have the conviction this time to buy. I'm eagerly waiting for the drop.

The challenge is not to catch the falling knife. Easier said than done though.

2017 was bad because the price dropped below what it cost to mine for many people. Eth has to hit below $500 US for that to happen.

Yep i was one of the Victim.....................

Did you guys sell your crypto into fiat as you were paid out from mining or did you keep it mostly into crypto?

ime2006 let me know if you want to sell one of your cards :P

Only sell if you need the money. I started mining when eth was below $100. Now look at the price.

Razor Ramon HG 05-22-2021 05:46 PM

I know some people sell to recoup equipment costs first to protect themselves (even if they can recoup most of the costs by selling the cards), while others like to ride it out and sell if necessary.

Just curious which group you guys fell into.

That's a good strategy. Some use the money to buy more hardware.

Tegra_Devil 05-23-2021 06:56 AM

I , as well, will buy anyones 3000 series cards if they are selling them haha

Decided to get my chia rig going only to realize a 128gb ssd is too small to install windows for the amount of memory my plotter has, now I gotta get another ssd drive for the os :/

68style 05-24-2021 07:29 AM

Yah I used a 240GB for the OS... only $40 anyway :)

StylinRed 05-24-2021 07:43 AM

Lol yeah I tried being as stingy as possible :lol

The workstation mb cpus n ram had me second guessing it all

Are you sure that's right? I have 54 gigs free on my 120GB drive.

Chia update and thoughts.

Right now I have 135 plots and counting with a estimated time to win of 6 months. That will change with the amount of total network space and the number of plots I have. I should be able to plot my 12 8 TB drives in under 35 days but then what? Do I keep adding more drives? I hear some people with mining farms are doing 100 TB or more a day.

If you are mining download the program Chia plot status. It tells you haw long each plot is going to take to finish and how long your other plots took. It breaks down the time for each stage. No having to go thru the logs and add up all the seconds.

Yeah windows wouldn't let me install to the drive saying it needed at least 212gb of space or something, then I googled it, and supposedly based on the amount of ram u have, u need moar hdd space

My plotters have 192gb of memory (I bought too much :lol) , so I guess that's why

WTH are you running and how much hard drive space do you have?

StylinRed 05-24-2021 05:15 PM

I got two plotters, dual xeon gold 6149's and dual xeon P8124s (amazon ewaste) and 1.4pb

Didn't think about just moving the drives to farmer units at first, so I was going to build 4 plotter-farmer rigs, and then I realized my 3060miners could've been used to plot/farm too

Coulda saved a bit on materials I guess, but then I've got the chia rigs at the office since they're quiet and I need power, so ig it works out, can't have 3060s at the office lol

I am at 160ish plots now. Im not sure if I should wipe the drives and start over with pool plotting when it arrives...or do i just keep whatever solo plots I have for possible "winning tickets" forever(assuming the plots I have made are good for life or they have an expiry date for winning)
