that being said, i don't think canucks will ever adopt that mentality, even if we're 12th in the conference

OTT once tanked a whole season to get Alexandre Diagle.

And that turned out great.

Jmac 03-26-2014 05:49 PM

4th line after a goal ... Ends up in the back of our net just like every time we do that :rukidding:

fliptuner 03-26-2014 05:50 PM

Last month, I wouldn't feel safe with a 3 goal lead and 7:30 to play......

Today......:considered:

We don't even need to pick. A higher draft pick is worth more in trade value. We gain nothing by winning right now unless you guys seriously think we can make the playoffs. Odds are 50-to-1 right now that the Canucks make it into the 8th spot.

Booth will still be bought out. 2 goals in a game isn't enough to make up for two years of uselessness.

In for a 3rd period collapse

So how'd that bet go for you?

pastarocket 03-26-2014 06:28 PM

If the team keeps playing like today vs. Minny, I could see a competitive game at the arena this Saturday against the Ducks.
Take care of business against the Avs. Then they roast the ducks!

Let's say every team in front of us goes .500 the rest of the way. We would make the playoffs if we finish 6-1-1 over our last 8. Phoenix and Dallas both lost their starting goaltenders to injury as well.

It's not as impossible as people make it seem. The odds aren't good but not impossible.

Tim Budong 03-26-2014 07:15 PM

I'll be honest, as long as Eddie Lack is in net and the numbers are great, I'm happy.

so CH28
Time for you to lose

trancehead 03-26-2014 07:28 PM

moving around for a draft pick (one that wont even be a top tier one) is not as important as:

developing team culture, for kassian to mature, maintaining competitiveness, and for Lack to grow

like Burke said, he would fire the coach on the spot if he were to even mention the word tank. i agree with that sentiment

Seriously, why are you people cheering? The Canucks winning right now is about the fucking stupidest thing they could do.

Its stupid for us to think that by us cheering for the Canucks plays a role in them winning or not
Its out of our hands, may aswell enjoy whats left of the season

Imagine if we had Booth for another 6 years at $5.25M/year ... instead of 1 year at $4.25M ... with the option of a compliance buyout ...

Not impossible. Just unrealistic.

I don't care about making the playoffs. We've made the playoffs plenty. I care about the Cup and this year we aren't winning it.

Every step closer the Canucks take towards the playoffs this year is taking away from future chances at the Cup.

Probably why he was fired in Toronto. Burke is a joke now.

Yes, he has a Cup and he made some good moves for the Ducks but he inherited most of that team and he hasn't made a good move since.

Look, take his quote and throw something against it with an argument than sticks. Ad Hominem on the quotee doesn't quite work

Sami Salo for Peter Schaefer
Got Linden back home for draft picks
Traded picks to pick the Sedins together (Thrashers too the Sedin pick and drafted Patrick Stefan haha) which basically shaped the franchise for the next 12 years............. I wouldn't say he hasn't made a good move since.

Chicago snuck in as a #8 seed in 2011 as Dallas lost in their final game of the season. Clearly they should've tanked. Look how far it set back their chances at another Stanley Cup ... They even got knocked out by the lowly Coyotes the following season ... :concentrate:
