Dan Cloutier is among the first-year eligible players for the Hockey Hall of Fame for 2013.

Given our current cap situation, the fact that he hasn't been offer sheeted already, makes me wonder how he is viewed around the league. Maybe not as good as we all feel he is. The kid plays relatively sheltered minutes, appears most effective when playing alongside Keith Ballard, good first pass but not overly mobile, gets knocked down hard and usually gets up again--but for how long.

Heres the Lu interview

rsx 07-08-2013 11:56 AM

uh oh.

LOL

murd0c 07-08-2013 12:03 PM

What does he say? I'm at work right now and can't listen and it's so bothering me lol

half the interview is about poker, quarter of it is asking lu who would cry first from torts, and the rest is mumble jumble about lu remembering their names and the awkwardness of asking NHL questions when lu requested "no NHL questions"

He didn't want to talk about hockey. Off the record, Jeff O'neil mentioned that if the season started next week, Lu wouldn't show up.

It's kind of a read between the lines segment, so you really need to hear his tone of voice and attitude.

well if thats true, thats just craptastic!

kwy 07-08-2013 12:18 PM

It's not looking great. Nothing too surprising though. if he's playing for van next season he needs to get over a few things.

Ludepower 07-08-2013 12:25 PM

Why wouldn't Lu show up? He's got a pay cheque he's gotta collect...win or lose.

It's obvious Luongo's heart isn't in hockey or Vancouver right now.
He said there's a couple things he has to get past first.

In regards of being far from (florida) home, Luongo mentioned the travel between Vancouver and Florida wasn't a big problem for him.

Luongo was told fans still support him, and hate Gillis. Luongo said he doesn't blame Gillis at all, because he's not sure if it was his decision (indicating Aquilini probably did get involved).

My personal opinion, he'll show up when the season starts, cause he's a professional, and there's no reason to think he'll sit out and cry about it. I say he'll need some time to re-focus in the next few months, but his heart is currently set on Poker right now, and he's not all that thrilled about next season. At least not yet.

jeedee 07-08-2013 12:36 PM

If Lu does happen to show up come October...

..Him and and a "i dont give a fuck attitude"

:ahwow:

He played/plays better when he isn't overthinking things. Those Chicago series in 2009 and 2010 shattered him :okay:

LP700-4 07-08-2013 12:37 PM

4:24 - "Enjoying the summer, working out, getting ready for another big season." - Lu

And the fact that he describes the Sedins as "Our players" and for "Our team" gives me a bit of hope.

Would be perfect if we can get penner for around 2.5 mill. 6'5 245 can play top line and sticks up for teammates with lappy gone.

i dont think the canucks have that money to spare, they have like four bucks left?

Verdasco 07-08-2013 12:58 PM

you boys are overreacting on whether or not he is going to play next season.... cmon it's obvious he is going to play with his heart out. I find luongo a jokester when off the ice.

GrapeDrink 07-08-2013 12:59 PM

^ they technically could, but that would leave them pretty much no capspace to do anything at the deadline. I'm looking at capgeeks and I put in schroder at 1 mil and Tanev at 1.5, theres 2.5 mil left. That is also assuming Weber and Santorelli is 7thD and 13th F though, not sure if that is the plan going forward.

Gillis gotta fix it somehow, we all know the biggest need is a player who can play in the top 6 role and stands up for teammate also scoring clutch goal.

With a big man, this city has hope for the Sedin's being protected in the playoffs.

GrapeDrink 07-08-2013 01:15 PM

^I'm not sure where you got the Penner sticks up for teamates and is clutch label from .. he has had 2 fights in the last 3 years and 16 goals in the last 2 seasons including playoffs. If you are expecting Dustin Penner to be a top 6 player you will be very disappointed. He doesn't have the fitness level to play more than his usual 12-15 a game, hes a 3rd liner at best these days.

Mike Oxbig 07-08-2013 01:17 PM

Penner doesn't fight but gets into scrum thats about it and no one really fucks with him... he does hover and do jack shit during regular season but in playoffs he wakes up. Anyone playing with the sedins will pretty much score 30 goals (anson carter :troll:)
