in on bet. Got Schroeder getting more points than Ebbett by the time he's Ebbetts age :troll:

he will probably change his username by then or no longer log in to that account

68style 07-09-2013 03:15 PM

I've had the same username since 1999... 8 more years?

By then maybe Revscene will just be implanted in our brains and we just have to think thoughts for posts to appear on here :ahwow:

On the bright side, if it requires thinking to post, dinamix (and a few others) will be then banned by default.

CRS 07-09-2013 03:15 PM

I would also take the bet for Schroeder having more points than Ebbett when he reaches Ebbett's current age.

Mike Oxbig 07-09-2013 03:19 PM

The bet should be will Schroeder have more points than Ebbett after this season, would be more interesting... Ebbett has 64 total right now & JS has 9

If JS plays on second line this season can he get 55pts? I would like to see somebody put their money on that!

Hondaracer 07-09-2013 04:14 PM

Ill take the under on Schroeder at 38 points.

.

I agree with most of your assessment. But Think back to 2009, what choice did the canucks have but to suck Luongo off? After the previous decade of the goalie graveyard, wasting the westcoast express because they didn't have a competent goalie, and I feel back then the gap between a mediocre and elite goalie was way bigger than it is today. You couldn't ride an average goalie to success back then, today you can.

I also feel Luongo is a better goalie today than he was back in 2006. Yes he was more athletic back then and made some crazy saves. But the reason he even had to make those saves in the first place was because his game was so unstructured and even sloppy back then versus what it is today.

Luongo isn't always under heavy scrutiny simply because he's the "goalie." He's under heavy scrutiny because he is one of the top earners in the team.

What he makes, and the length of his contract, certainly puts him under the magnifying glass. But looking back at history, between kirk mclean and Luongo, you'll find 'the goalie' has always been under intense scrutiny here, and none of those guys make what Lu does.

You guys all seem really convinced JS is even going to make the team... but now talking about him being the 2nd line centre???.............. there is no way in hell that's going to happen as long as Kesler's ego is alive let alone Kesler himself? I'm not so sure guys :p

Don't get me wrong, I like him, but I don't think he's Tortorella's type of player... and he's been passed over tonnes of times in the past for callups. He's just too small to play in the Western conference with all the hitting and checking.

GrapeDrink 07-09-2013 09:51 PM

^ honestly I think we get too caught up with the number on the line, the people who said to make JS the 2nd line C realistically see Higgins-Kesler-Burrows as the line that can also shut down the other team and I guess thats technically been a "3rd line" role. My concern would be whether Canucks are comfortable with Sedin-Kes-JS as the top 3 going forward in this division and if not what can they possibly do lol.

competition would include

Camalleri-Backlund-Stajan
RNH-Gagner-Gordon
Riberio-Vermette-Hanzal
Getzlaf-Pameri-Koivu
Kopitar-Richards-Stoll
Couture-Thornton-Pavelski

Meddling owners are never good.

Non hockey people who think they're experts and make shitty decisions ala Peter Pocklington.

looks like we're getting a heritage classic!

Canucks host Sens at BC Place in 2014 NHL Heritage Classic

Quote:

Hockey Night In Canada will be the home of the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators at BC Place in Vancouver on March 2.

CBC will broadcast the game — only the third regular-season game ever to be played outdoors in Canada — which will be the first NHL contest played in a retractable-roof stadium.

"With one of the world's great facilities as the setting, and one of the world's most scenic cities as the backdrop, the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at BC Place in Vancouver will honour hockey's Canadian heritage," NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said in a release.

"With the excitement, the entertainment, the competitiveness and the fun of this game, the Canucks and Senators will create special memories for hockey fans everywhere."

BC Place, which has a capacity of 59,841, is home to the CFL's B.C. Lions and the Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS.

"The NHL Heritage Classic allows our sport to further celebrate the history of the game while doing so in a unique venue," Canucks president and GM Mike Gillis said. "We look forward to showcasing our city, province, team and fans this upcoming March."

The 2014 edition of the Heritage Classic follows the 2003 game in Edmonton between the Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens, and the 2011 contest in Calgary between the Flames and Habs.

Ottawa and Vancouver have some history, albeit through their predecessors, as the two cities went head-to-head in a best-of-five series for the Stanley Cup in 1915. The Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association swept the Senators, then of the National Hockey Association, to claim the Cup.

i'd go if prices were reasonable but chances are, i'll probably just watch it at a bar in downtown.
