should've traded lu + schneider, picked up ray emery for 1m in free agency
boom tons of cap space to work with

Mike Oxbig 07-10-2013 03:10 PM

Ray Emery was a fail in the stanley cup finals with the sens

I still believe Higgins for 2.5 is a ripoff

Higgins is a great deal for everything he did last year. Lappy would of been a smokin deal at 1.1 tho...

Emery has had surgery and really has turned everything around since he played for the sens. I hope he does well this up coming season.

I'd take emery over Luongo anyday. Cheaper, played better last season and is actually motivated to play

Do you actually watch the games? There's a reason why Emery has failed to establish himself as a true number 1 thus far

And the next season, he'll pull an Anson Carter.

If he even gets to that.

he does have Steve Mason... :heckno:

SkinnyPupp 07-10-2013 07:00 PM

I keep seeing "they should've traded Lu"

They couldn't trade Lu. That's part of why they're in this mess. Part of it is Lu's contract, part is his ntc, and part is MG's insistence of getting a player back for him.

What they should have done is. Buy him out. But I assume the owner didn't want to. So now were here, still not sure if hell even play

Oh ok. Half a season defines which goalie is better...

Why does Philly always get the biggest fish in hockey?

owner hass lots of money, big market, east coast, travel time is laughable considering what it would be in vancouver

mickz 07-11-2013 12:07 AM

With the shit Mike Gillis pulled on Marco Sturm I'm not surprised the team has trouble attracting players.

highfive 07-11-2013 12:26 AM

It's harder for Canucks to attract players also based on the travel, living quality (house in Vancouver cost? Vs other cities), and the internal cap we created. No players will make more than the Sedins at $6.1. But look at what $6 can get around the league? An aging iginla? Clarkson got what? 5.25?

Also the Canucks line up is pretty set in a way. Hard to attract players when they don't have the certainty of a position they get to play.

How so? He did a favour for his old client from when he was an agent and brought the guy in when nobody wanted him, Sturm lied about where his legs were skating wise and could barely move out there... if anything Sturm is one of the reasons people are looking at players with thinly veiled disdain nowadays and a lesson in how bringing in a guy who's way past his prime hoping he will rejuvenate here isn't going to happen.

two completely different organizations. Philly has no problem trading away stars and talent for new stars and talent. If you want the Canucks to pull big stars like Philly you would have to expect the current core players to be expendable.

oh, and Philly has had less success pulling big fish than the canucks have had with running a core.

And the Rangers pre-cap make Philly look tame

Vansterdam 07-11-2013 06:25 AM

any idea when the heritage classic tickets go on sale?

Gilgamesh 07-11-2013 08:17 AM

anyone following prospect camp for their respective teams? I curious as to how Shinkaruk's doing seeing as how he is gauthier's opportunity cost.
