How are the gas prices in Point Roberts?

Okay............. where's the best place to have parcels shipped to in Point Roberts? I've never been there in my life.

thanks........

In/Out is automated and has better hours

P2P is easy walking distance if the car lineup to cross is too long

Shell station also does it… any of them are fine

Me neither. But I signed up for In Out as I used to use the letter carrier which was in the same location. 24/7 pickup is pretty sweet that 5d doesn't offer.

MG1 12-23-2021 11:30 PM

How's the traffic? Line up wise. Weekday.

And border crossing is open 24/7, Im assuming.

SkunkWorks 12-23-2021 11:36 PM

Was a ghost town this morning. Puckered up coming back as there were 0 BC plates - that nagging thought maybe the Tsawwassen/Ladner locals knew something I didn't WRT mandatory testing/quarantine :lol

Hehe 12-24-2021 08:59 AM

So, is anyone still crossing given the 24hr exemption for BC residents?

After the roll-back to the 72hr PCR test exemption, I'm just wondering if the people at CBSA are up to date with the latest exemption ruling given how fucked up it was when the BC exemption was first introduced.

I still see the exemption on Canada.ca and see you guys here crossing still.

https://www.canada.ca/en/border-serv...-columbia.html

I'm just curious what's the case in a practical sense? Any precaution when doing it? Like, any part of the ArriveCan app that one needs to pay special attention to?

Edit: I saw the experience shared by Skunkworks, just wanted to see if anyone else did it with the Mainland crossing (Peace Arch/Pac HWY)?

68style 12-24-2021 11:07 AM

The mainland one is discretionary based on whether you needed to get supplies. I honestly wouldn’t try it.

djm 12-27-2021 07:06 PM

anyone else been through Point Roberts recently?

MG1 12-27-2021 09:54 PM

Waiting for my package to show up. Signed up with In Out Parcel. Can't wait.

SkunkWorks 12-29-2021 10:57 AM

Does anyone notice that their favourite US online vendor is now charging WA tax even if they're not based in the state?

Just noticed it'd be more economical for some of my part orders to pay the international shipping + GST/PST than it is to ship to PR, pay WA tax, and then likely be taxed for the entire amount again when crossing.

Granted its been a few years since I ordered stuff down there but I was never charged state tax previously unless if the vendor was in WA.

twitchyzero 12-29-2021 01:43 PM

been like that for years now

usually pay through the nose to have it come up here unless it's the odd smaller package from rockauto

JDMDreams 12-29-2021 01:55 PM

Yea, it started a few years before COVID. I got charged sales tax on a used item from eBay. I'm selective at check out to see who doesn't charge it. Or I just order and ship from China direct to Canada if I'm not in a rush for it.

68style 12-29-2021 03:09 PM

You can thank Trump for putting that tax in

SkunkWorks 12-29-2021 08:02 PM

Explains it. Haven't ordered much stateside as I haven't been close enough to the border last few years.

Surprisingly, shipping is only an extra $30 and I save $200 in WA tax - no brainer.

It's actually the SCOTUS decision. Google South Dakota vs. Wayfair.

It mainly affects big retailers who have a quasi-national presence or do enough business in all 50 states.

The key now is to buy from small local mom'n'pop shop out of state to ship to WA tax free.

68style 12-30-2021 04:35 PM

Well, he had no problem blocking so many other things hahaha

Kilinim 01-01-2022 04:27 PM

Is the Point Roberts crossing still allowing vaccinated Canadians to cross with no testing requirements?

JDMDreams 01-01-2022 08:33 PM

^ that's what tsb says

I had the same email a week ago from TSB saying no issues crossing. Has anything changed since then?

Has anybody else crossed at Point Roberts lately? On the arrivecan app Point Roberts/Boundary Bay isn't even listed. Do you not have to fill out Arrivecan prior to return?

Also 2 astrazenaca shots plus a moderna booster, that should be ok?

68style 01-04-2022 02:41 PM

It’s called “Boundary Bay (YDT)” on the app

GIZZ 01-04-2022 02:46 PM

YDT is the Airport tho. I guess it's the closest.

Have you been across the border lately?

Kilinim 01-04-2022 05:23 PM

Can confirm, just crossed at Point Roberts. All that's required is double vaccination and to have ArriveCan filled out.

Shades 01-09-2022 06:29 PM

Can we cross to Blaine and come back without having to show negative molecular test?
