https://secure.cic.gc.ca/sca-dve/stat16-eng.aspx I've heard some pretty horrific stories while lining up from people who waited more than 3mth without receiving the passports they applied (both kids and adults) and were there lining up because their trip was coming up soon. |
Crossed back into Canada at noon. Did the usual shopping and shit. I won the lottery.............. got me a Covid test kit to take home. Like WTF???? In two weeks, I have my long waited (three years minus 26 days) Nexus interview in Blaine. FFFFFFUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuck. |
^ That kit is SUCH A PAIN to register online and schedule a test. I spent like an hour fumbling around the lifelabs website. I really hope they've improved it. |
So what happens if I don't do it? I haven't registered it yet. Wishful thinking, I guess. Of all the things the authorities do, they won't screw up things that inconvenience or penalize regular folk. |
Get a big fine |
What exactly are these random tests trying to prevent at this point? Let 100 cars through, then hand out a test to one random dude all to try and stop what? |
I didn’t know they were still handing them out actually, I got one way back when but I’ve been through like 40 times since then and nothing |

I called the Canadian Government and the guy on the other end, I couldn't for the life of me understand...........Somalian accent? Why would you hire someone who 99% of Canadians wouldn't understand? I heard $5000.00 and sent away to somewhere. I commented, "Like what my Uncle in Law went through? Internment camp?" Dude didn't get it. Anyway, I politely said, "Thank You," and hung up. I registered the kit on line, printed out some document, and called Shoppers Drug Mart in Highgate (Burnaby). No appointment necessary................ got back in time to watch the first pitch of the baseball game. Chick swabbed my cheeks, swirls the thing in both nostrils, and said, all done. Felt weird. My nostrils are usually dry so getting it wet was just weird. |
When I did it, you had to do it on yourself via video call which was hopelessly difficult to set up with their interface. |

Plus, way better when some young chick does it to you.......... |
Results came back. I'm in the clear. |
So my buddy who lives in Toronto was flying to Phoenix today. Got to the airport 4 hours early, took 3.5 to get through security, and then the plane was delayed an hour and a half because half the plane was stuck in security and customs.. Nice system, who’d have thunk people would want to travel after restrictions were lifted.. |
I like how they said Toronto won’t be sorted out until September. Really??? I’ve always thought Pearson was a shit airport but they’re really getting exposed now. Vancouver looks like paradise in comparison. |
I’ve pretty much never had an issue at YVR either domestically or internationally. This past summer flew to Montreal and twice to Toronto and both those airports are complete garbage compared to YVR This isn’t a matter of “it’s happening everywhere” either because over the last month AC and Pearson on paticular has been the worst airport for delays and cancellations throughout the entire world. |
Well, in Toronto Pearson's defense, they are the busiest airport in Canada and a major hub city. Way more flights connect through YYZ than YVR. Apparently pre-COVID, YYZ was the second busiest international airport in North America (behind JFK in New York). |
Neither of those are even in the top 5 now. Doesn’t look like they were before either in terms of passenger volume |
Forgot about the Blue Jays fans. Border heading back to Canada was nuts today. 90 minutes at noon and getting worse. Thanks to the WSDOT app, I discovered Lynden/Aldergrove was at 5 - 10 minutes northbound. I dropped everything and got to the crossing with about ten cars ahead of me. Two lanes until I got close. Then, they closed one lane. Ten minutes later, I crossed. When I got close to Fraser Hwy, 264th was clogged up with trucks. The line up at the border, according to 730 AM Trafiic, was now one hour wait and getting longer. I guess, like everywhere else, they’re short on staff? |
Literally took us 3 fucking hours last night at Pacific. We arrived at 7:35pm and it was backed up to I5. We cleared the booth at 10:30pm. -Mark |
Was there on Saturday, crossed at 6 am at truck crossing took about 15 min cuz only one lane was open. Then came back at like 7 ish, same about 20 min wait. Like 3 lanes open :notbad: |

On another note, it absolutely drives me nuts how many people drove in the trucks only lane and then cut in right before the duty free. They really should have someone turning these pricks around but alas it works so more and more people do it. |

I went down to the US for the day yesterday, came back at about 8pm... 5 minutes wait and most of that was because they did shift change at 8pm. No Nexus. Don't come back on a Sunday night? lol |
Going down to Seattle for 2 days. What did you guys do with phone roaming? Use roam like home? I have a older Samsung on Telus network, I got a text saying starting July 1, my phone being a 3G phone will not work on US carrier and I need to get a LTE or 5G phone. Does that mean I can't use my phone? |
^^ I just stole wi-fi like a poor person |
