24 months grace period has come and gone for my wife and daughter. Son still has close to 2 years though.

went across at 615am Monday/Blaine - back into Canada around 6:40am through Peace Arch and..
...
...

randomly selected for covid test.

sheesh -

anyways, its not that much of an inconvenience i suppose. the border guy hands you a test kit, you setup a virtual/video conference call with a lifelabs tech who guides you into completion of the test (to make sure it is done properly), and then you can either ship it off (prepaid label) or drop it off at a lifelabs or shoppers drugmart. results were back within 24hrs - negative of course.

Hondaracer 08-09-2022 08:15 AM

Lol what a fucking joke, you’ve got to mail the test or take it into a life labs?

I’m sure every person is completely isolating in that meantime.. ffs.. this is getting insane

68style 08-09-2022 08:37 AM

I think you can also go into Shoppers and have them do the test on you to skip the whole video thing... I saw one person in this thread did it that way.

Setting up the video call is painful on the Lifelabs website.

For the people still waiting for ur renewals to be approved. Did u guys pay for ur renewal already or are u waiting to pay? My memory is abit cloudy but i think i remember them giving me an option and i elected to pay beforehand. Maybe thats why my approval was so fast?

bcrdukes 08-09-2022 07:07 PM

I don't even remember lol

Pretty sure I already paid

Mikoyan 08-09-2022 08:50 PM

Pretty sure you have to pay at time of renewal. I seem to remember a check out page when I renewed in January.

You have to pay when you apply, regardless of outcome. No other option.

Got a question for u guys. Im taking a family trip across the border. But 1 member of the family doesnt have there nexus. Is it ok to drop them off at a the designated pedesterian crossing and then pick them up on the other side? And do the same thing on the way back?

I did this once b4 but only on the way back and got in trouble cause everyone needed to be in the vehicle that originally crossed with me

JDMDreams 08-13-2022 11:55 AM

I went down few months back drove 2 cars down, came back in one. Second time drove one down came back in two cars no questions.

There's a clause in Nexus that prohibits this.

Basically everyone traveling in Nexus lane needs to have Nexus. The method you are describing is circumventing the condition that grants you Nexus in the first place and you and everyone in the car can lose your Nexus privilege.

blkgsr 08-16-2022 12:44 PM

This.

we drove down with a friend in the car years ago that didn't have nexus. she got out early and walked through, we got sent in and "yelled" at.

WD-40 08-16-2022 01:55 PM

what's worse is that you not only lose your Nexus privileges forever, but you'll be flagged as untrustworthy. you will be harassed each time you cross the border both ways for the rest of your natural life.

that's if you get caught

totally worth the risk

do it, do it, do it

Mikoyan 08-16-2022 02:42 PM

I swear this is one of the first things the agents tell you at your interview about using nexus.

BIC_BAWS 08-16-2022 04:53 PM

The nexus interview didn't provide me with any rules and regulations whatsoever... EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE THING lol

dachinesedude 08-17-2022 09:24 AM

Do it and tell us how it went

inv4zn 08-17-2022 12:49 PM

Has anyone applied for a child's Nexus? Any different than adult process as far as the application goes?

Do you have to make an account for the child?

Rallydrv 08-17-2022 01:33 PM

weird i did that once. no issues, in fact, cbsa agent told me usa doesn't like doing this, but we r ok w/ it.

I did it for both my kids, both seperate accounts.

It's conditionally approved. Just a matter of finding a time slot for the interview

SSM_DC5 08-17-2022 02:56 PM

Is this how the interview with your child will go?

Yes you do, I had to make up email accounts just to create their login.

they'll ask your 4mos old if they've ever been convicted of a felony or ran a human trafficking ring

acrophobia 08-19-2022 06:01 PM

Crossed at Osoyoos and US border guard asked for vaccination paperwork for the entire family, which is the first time we have been asked crossing into the US since the land border reopened  Thankfully my wife still had the documents on her phone.

SSM_DC5 08-20-2022 11:32 AM

In the arrive can app, do I "add traveller" twice to input my passport and nexus?
