I'd be thrilled to see a Macan EV being a $50 - $60k car if it is only 1 - 3 years old.

JDMDreams 11-21-2025 03:10 PM

And how much is a battery replacement :heckno:

Badhobz 11-21-2025 03:24 PM

Those hilarious taycan bricks so often that dudes can’t even get in their own cars. It doesn’t recognize the fob being present so you can’t even drive it. What a wonderful experience VAG

The second one 2017 35i, I looked for a specific one with no sport package (hate staggered wheels with that monster 315rears), no air suspension, and not too many optional gizmos and it's been rock solid reliable with just basic maintenance and great mpg. Maybe next year with the new klasse X5 coming out they worked out all the kinks.

I honestly have no idea. It's not like the US were really gungho about lock downs or anything either, I would say it's just the US manufacturing just isn't as good. If you've seen Chattanooga VWs you'd think they were made in a fourth world country with rocks as tools.

The early 50e had software issues which would brick the car but those have been solved it seems. I'm not a fan of the staggered setup, but it seems more than half of them are staggered. Air is surprisingly affordable and replacement struts are the same price as regular stuff.

radeonboy 11-21-2025 04:16 PM

From anecdotal experience, the covid and pre-covid BMW SUVs have the same build quality. The covid-era X5 had missing features though - no soft-close, no powered tail gate, orange-only climate display etc.

Badhobz 11-21-2025 04:18 PM

I swear anything made past 2020 is pretty subpar for all the brands. Except my ratrolla. Das gud.

i suspect these will become 30-40k cars in another year

Is this US market? I dont think Canada the EQS/Taycan/Macan depreciates as hard.

AstulzerRZD 11-21-2025 06:41 PM

You’re starting to see this in Canada with Teslas.

I think is just supply and demand.
Way more EVs than buyers in US.

Does this apply to children as well? :concentrate:

:fuckthatshit: nah! b58 this b58 that... be a man, buy a v8.

https://media.mbusa.com/releases/rel...w-electric-cla

WOW 374 mi / 602 km US rated range.
Why is the price barely different though, $47,250 for the 250+ or $49,800 for the 350.

22 min (10-80% SOC) on a 92kwh battery (85kwh) also insane.
That's 190+ kW average, double what Tesla is doing.

68style 11-26-2025 08:15 AM

I like that their electric motors are described as “permanently excited”

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 09:16 AM

I'm still not sure who the buyer for cla is, it's so small and cramped, the proportion looks so weird like a short turtle with a tall shell. Cla shooting brake is better but we don't get that here.

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 09:29 AM

For me, CLA EV hits every requirement while the Model 3 Highland doens't.
Electric version is way bigger than gas CLA (around 4 extra inches of shoulder room), slightly larger than Model 3.

Ride quality, refinement, and tech are also huge for me. The Highland still has a choppy ride, slow AF charging, and self-parking that only works if you pay for FSD (and even then barely works).

Not saying the Model 3 is a bad car - it just doesn't work for me.

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 10:22 AM

Aren't they gonna come out with a EV or hybrid c class? I think that would be the minimum. The new e53 wagon looks so nice, much better than that pig m5 and it's not even 63 yet

68style 11-26-2025 11:04 AM

* Mercedes releases a EV and Hybrid C-Class tomorrow *

JDMDreams: "Who's going to buy that wonder how much that battery costs to replace, you know what they say about German cars better buy the warranty"

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 11:05 AM

He's right about the warranty, wrong about which part
The Audi E-Tron and MB EQA/B/V motors all fail within the warranty period.
Terrible design from ZF!

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 11:37 AM

I have two out of warranty German cars right now. Not bad as they are old and full ice. One is at the shop now. FeelsBadMan

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 11:48 AM

Also I still feel like if you are buying anything electric unless it's Tesla, you are still kinda buying 1st or second Gen tech with a good chance that it might be an orphan. Ford ev, Nissan leaf, vin fast, lucid, rivian. All the Germans still have huge software, reliability issues, look at Taycan, eq build issues, id, Toyota is half ass about it with their bz4x and same thing outdated tech. Even BMW orphans their cars after 1 Gen, i3, i8.

I think this is only an issue if you keep your car for a long time. I find most people just lease and get a new car every 4-5 years...

yray 11-26-2025 12:32 PM

my wifes EQE had a intermittent cooling system malfunction error, took it into service and they just refilled coolant, now the message is on non stop :lol

SA says if the message comes back on, we should head back immediately... call back within an hour and they book me in for Dec 4

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 02:51 PM

I think hoovies had a similar problem with his eqs it was sitting at the dealer for a while waiting for parts. That's why he sold it.

yray 11-26-2025 03:06 PM

fuck those things depreciate like a rock,

now that they got rid of the EQ line, they are practically worthless

Badhobz 11-26-2025 03:55 PM

Drive it into the…. Forest ? Take it off roading !

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 04:36 PM

EQ is actually getting a second gen. They’re just going to stop naming them EQ for the EQE/EQS third gen
