Anyone else got Gigabit internet? Just wondering what everyone else is paying for their plan (and does it include cable?)

I has. Urbanfibre for 80/month. No tv service though they have an IPTV service rumoured to be in beta.

I'm not aware of any residential gigabit companies that also have tv service. Maybe Novus?

cdizzle_996 08-01-2017 10:54 AM

Anyone have a hook up for Shaw or Telus internet?

PM me asap

Hondaracer 08-01-2017 11:00 AM

Telus currently testing gigabit speeds in some places, $150 a month as far as i know. Only for customers with a direct fiber line obviously

I still run all 3 services through shaw, internet, cable and phone. As soon as I get my kid a phone (probably next couple weeks) I'm cancelling my cable and home phone. With Android boxes, Netflix and downloading TV Shows and movies Cable is obsolete even more so now that DAZN has bought the rights to Stream the NFL in Canada and it's cheap as fuck compared to what Shaw was charging.

Hondaracer 08-01-2017 11:53 AM

only reason why i keep cable is because of live spots and Jeopardy

If somthing like DAZN can pick up all or most of live sports i'd probably drop it.

I've exhausted all options in terms of trying to stream live sporting events, it's just never good enough

winson604 08-01-2017 12:14 PM

I'm moving in a couple months and I'm realistically looking at not getting cable at all. The only thing I would want it for is Sports specifically hockey. All the rest I can get via my usual methods of downloading, youtube etc.

What are my best options for watching Canucks games without cable, or is that not even an option?

Don't get your hopes up for DAZN for picking up steaming hockey. NHL might stupid but they know how to make money and steaming revenue doesn't come close to having on cable now.

I had center ice a few years in a row through my Rogers share everything plan, however, center ice blacks out regional games..really useful, unless you're a huge fan of a team outside of where you live it's virtually useless.

I even used a VPN in order to change my regional viewing but outside of watching it from my hardwired PC, casting it to a TV or through Apple TV etc was useless, so choppy and shitty I couldn't even watch and that's with internet 150 and a great connection throughout my old place.

Rogers owns broadcasting rights within Canada till like 2024 so it's never going to happen regardless

homephone landline + internet 25 with unlimited bandwidth (gave for free) + optik tv with chinese channels and sports package (gave for free) and we're paying $80/month not including taxes. been renewing this promo for the past 2 years and sometimes they don't match it and we're up to $90/month but at times they do better than the last and it goes to $80/month. hit or miss lol

Sportsnet Now works quite well (using my cable account). It's not cheap, and at that price you might be better off paying a bit extra for cable.

Novus will be offering their services in my building soon :fuckyea:

Currently on a 1-year new subscription plan with Telus, but upgraded to the 150/150 plan for about $20/mo. Hopefully by the time that's over I can switch over!

guurl 08-22-2017 03:51 PM

Wow nice!. I was gonna cancel my cable and use internet 150. But decided internet 75 and 4 pack theme was good enough.
Maybe I should try for internet 150 then wait for the call

freakshow 08-24-2017 12:58 PM
