No. Why give up a solid player for one who may or may not turn out decent. It's a huge gamble, one we shouldn't make.

I'd do it for the simple fact that this team seems to be flush with D right now, so it makes sense to trade away from a position of strength to address a position of weakness. We'll lose a big time defender, but we'll be using him to (hopefully) address the piss poor offense this team has had over the past 2 seasons.

Tanev is underrated but Canucks are a micky mouse team so they should acquire e.kane

right now I think we are pretty solid with defense...by all means no stud D on defense but solid enough. If you can get a scorer for Tanev by all means do it because your not really going to get any offence from him. With the solid play with stech I know it early but still he is I think a better offensive dman then Tanev....

The entire team besides goaltending sucks. Offense and defense suck, but compared to each other, we're stronger on the defensive side of things

Dealing Tanev still leaves us with a decent defense, while helping bolster our anemic offense that has held a lead for all of 30 minutes this entire season.

problem is people who expect stecher to replace tanev have to realize hes played less than a dozen games. he looks promising, that's about it. he's not an immediate replacement.

d future looks alright with juuolevi, tryamkin, hutton, gudbranson, stecher, subban? + edler. yet theres really no top pairing dman there, only possible/s

Tanev for Kane is a no-go for me. His defensive skills are too valuable.

Id love to have E.Kane but theres no way the team will embrace his type of character and with that he will never succeed here.

I fail to see how we're "stronger" on defense than we are on offense. In the 9 games without Tanev this season, we've been one of the worst defensive teams in the league. And I definitely wouldn't call this defense "decent" without Tanev.

Looking through the stats, literally every team metric is better with Tanev in the lineup.

Then looking at Kane, he's topped 50 points once in his career, hasn't topped 40 points since '13-'14, is injury prone (so's Tanev, so that's a wash), has had a history of problems with coaches and teammates, has had legal problems, social media problems, and his lifestyle paired with living in his hometown is a recipe for disaster. Also, $5.25M/year for a guy who might get 40 points ... Trading for Kane doesn't make this team better.

not sure why everybody has such a hard on for evander kane, he's played like 1.5 seasons of good hockey in Winnipeg... the guy is injury prone, toxic waste in the locker room, and has terrible work ethic

if we want instant offence i'm sure there's better choices out there that won't cost us a Tanev and $6m/yr
