Think of it as an equivalent of a sit-in but bigger in scope and scale. The Dems are having a really hard time cutting through the noise because of how widespread the corruption and criminality is with the Trump admin and because the Dems leadership sucks at fighting back. Doing a big sit-in gets a lot of media attention (it was on every SM feed I had and was mostly a top 5-8 headline in most major papers/news sites)
