^ Quiet tanking ... and offer something to the hockey gods to move up to #1 spot.

murd0c 01-11-2023 12:05 PM

Demko needs to get shutdown for the season, they need to trade Horvat, Boeser, Garland, Kuz and Schenn and then we might have a chance for a top 5 pick.

Miller still trade-able this season? Add him to that list too if he is

68style 01-11-2023 12:17 PM

Yah Miller’s new deal doesn’t kick in until next season

whitev70r 01-11-2023 01:32 PM

^ I've been championing to get J.T. Miller's ass out of here before his nvm clause kicks in. Even if Canucks have to eat $1M/yr on his contract ... take your losses with your tail between your legs and just admit it was a bad contract.

68style 01-11-2023 01:44 PM

It's more important to get rid of OEL... and the only way to do it is with a buyout.

Honestly even though the upfront cost is high, if I was the owner, I'd do it...save $9M overall in the long-run and the cap hit for 8 years will be just over $2.13M a year instead of the $8.25 a year it is now.

As an aside, Christian Wolanin has 39 points in 33 games in Abby as a dman this season........... and he doesn't even get a sniff up here? Surely he's good enough for our Top 6.

I agree. We would get a crazy haul for all those players. I would keep Kuz as he works well with EP40

teggy604 01-11-2023 06:16 PM

Anyone know how many season ticket holder canucks currently have? Cuz if attendance is steady, then the owner and management will do nothing.

Hondaracer 01-11-2023 06:52 PM

I get that argument but it doesn’t really hold water imo

Like what is the net revenue for the Canucks in a season? 50 million? 100?

If you have a good team the playoffs are pure profit, I think back in the 2010’s they were saying a million plus per game in straight profit. Any owner who is only in it for the money wants playoffs.

spoon.ek9 01-11-2023 08:09 PM

hence we've been stuck in limbo for the past decade. owner unwilling to commit to a proper rebuild because he thinks we can sneak into the playoffs and make him some more money. publicly claims that he's in it to see the team win but constantly meddling with management.

teggy604 01-11-2023 08:36 PM

Owner won't rebuild, so instead he retool. I guess he didnt want to lose profit for those few yrs it takes to rebuild. He rather take a mediocre team that doesn't make the playoff cuz fans still paying the money. And if they make the playoff its a bonus? Lol.

whitev70r 01-11-2023 08:37 PM

I think people would buy tickets to see Conor Bedard play for a couple years of rebuild ... if everything lined up, of course.

Liquid_o2 01-12-2023 10:11 AM

OEL getting scratched tonight? :awwyeah:

murd0c 01-12-2023 10:29 AM

Its about time he's scratched

Razor Ramon HG 01-12-2023 10:44 AM

We need him to continue the tank tho

:okay:

Pearson out for the rest of the season with another surgery, forgot he existed, lol

whitev70r 01-12-2023 10:49 AM

:lol ... yah, keep him in the lineup for Bedard.

roastpuff 01-12-2023 12:25 PM

Poor Pearson

Gumby 01-12-2023 12:43 PM

I would be totally shocked if a Team Like That ever got the first overall pick. We had to wheel & deal just to get the 2nd pick overall back in 1999, and management hasn't shown any signs of making good deals in recent history.

SkinnyPupp 01-12-2023 04:22 PM

God damn that QH pass to Miller for the break, and what a move by Miller

Elite level hockey right there

68style 01-12-2023 04:51 PM

Miller literally watching Hagel skate into the slot and score on Tampa’s 4th… yah both dmen went to Killorn but he had plenty of opportunity to recognize that play and take Hagel instead of coasting around.

Fuck this guy so frustrating to watch him……..

Miller has been caught many times red handed watching with his lazy ass then to actually put in effort to back check. JR thinks he can change Millers attitude. Goodluck.

AzNightmare 01-12-2023 07:23 PM

Made it entertaining at least..... right down to the dying seconds. What a chance right at the end.

whitev70r 01-12-2023 08:59 PM

See, Boudreau shouldn't have healthy scratched OEL.
