RIP to Gino. Also just found out his first born is named Bure. :accepted: |
Our team has often been accused of not sticking up for each other or lacking that wolf pack mentality. Other teams knew not to fuck around when Gino was on the ice. |
RIP Gino |

Team is trying a bit too hard today in Carolina. |
today game 3rd period at 15:19, another lazy backcheck by Miller that leads to a very good scoring chance by Carolina. I swear the guy has no awareness on the ice. Kotkaniemi was literally behind the net in his own end while Miller was in the slot, skates 200 ft down the ice with a trailing Miller to get a good shot on Delia. |
Guys the team is not tanking. And if they were there'd be no reason to hide it |
You're never going to get a team to actually tank. What purpose would it serve a group of players making their own stats worse in hopes of a better draft pick. For all they know they might not even be around anymore even if they landed Bedard. Luckily this team sucks enough as is and hopefully they don't figure it out late in the season like they usually seem to. |
lol, at all the tank comments. I would assume it's just for fun and giggles to talk about tanking, but to genuinely think a team is tanking, should be obvious it's not going to happen. As mentioned, it really serves the individual players no benefit. Players are also playing for their own pride and points collected will only serve as a bargaining chip for their next contract, whether it's next season or later down the line. Their stats are their resume. |
Players will fight every attempt to tank by a team's front office, even if it's to the detriment of the team. Jets missed out on Trevor Lawrence because they won a late season game, and knew that going in. Texans just lost their first round pick with a 4th down touchdown play instead of taking the easy field goal for a tie. They're going to try to win no matter what. |
Of course it's all for shitz and giggles ... I mean the only team that's obvious (without saying it) are the Chicago Blackhawks. |
How's everyone feeling about recycled Rick Tocchet as replacement for Boudreau? Reports coming in that it's imminent. He just needs 4 weeks, to let whatever network he is working for to finish his term/contract. Me ... Canucks heading towards another era of mediocrity. I don't want Mr. guilty of gambling to be Rutherford living his past with the Penguins. And then the other news Rutherford on Tanner's injury - https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...reatment-plan/ |
Canucks: We need to start winning! Also Canucks: Let's hire a coach with a losing record who made players request trades and didn't get along with our highest paid defenceman / player on the team This season can't end soon enough, total disgrace. |
Big fail to Rutherford and Allvin for what they have done so far in terms of managing this team. Improve the defence? All they did was sign Ethan Bear. Salary Cap management: ....still waiting for moves. Trades to improve the team's defence and offence. ....still waiting for moves. I feel bad for Bruce. He can only do so much with the players that he has on the roster. -sounds like Rutherford and Allvin are trying to use a blueprint from their days working for the Penguins in order to improve the Canucks. How is Tocchet going to help this team? |
Has management team that comes in and tries to build a team after the model of their former team EVER worked? I think the only reason Mike Gillis did as well as he did was because he tried somthing new for once. |
With what he said about not being able to move out contracts and potentially bringing in Tocchet, i'm sure the move is to get OEL to open up a list of teams for trade. Also, doesn't Tocchet play defensively? Good luck, JT. |

He inherited the Sedins, Kesler, and Luongo. Ehrhoff landed on his lap but c'mon, we never expected the twins go from .9-1.0 point per game players to over 1p/game guys. Kes to score 41 goals. Burrows going from grinder bottom checking player to top line player. AND we had Luongo. |

Rutherford kept using the word "retool" during his Q & A with reporters this morning. The only "tools" that exist within the Canucks are the tools that work in the front office. :lawl: |

The hard part is adding effective pieces around the core, which Gillis was seemingly able to do a few different times. He also seemed to grasp the cap much better than the last 2 GM’s here |
Even if we had a management team capable of making the "right" moves I don't even know what that is at this point. |
Damn ... I just said that all the tank talk was for shitz and giggles yesterday but the Prez Rutherford actually said it outright. Excerpt from today's Presser: “I’m disappointed in the job that I’ve done to this point. When I first came here, I talked about getting control of the cap, getting rid of some contracts, and we haven’t been able to do that.” he said. “Until we do that, we’re not going to be able to make the changes that we need to make.” “When I came here, I knew it was going to be a big challenge, and I thought we’d have to do minor surgery…We have to do major surgery.” "I'm disappointed in the job I've done to this point... We have to do major surgery." When asked if he'd consider an all-out tank job, Rutherford stated the obvious in that he and the team would love to have the 1st overall selection in this year's upcoming NHL Draft. “I thought we were tanking,” Rutherford said. “We’re pretty close to the bottom. I'll say the obvious. We all want the first overall pick. This year of all years." However: "We're not moving towards a rebuild, I prefer the term re-tool," he said. How about the future of Boudreau? “All I can say is that Bruce [Boudreau] is our coach right now,” Rutherford said. "But with that, I’m calling and talking, but don’t know that we’re making a change and don’t want to make a change.” |
Without hearing the audio it's hard to tell but I have to assume he was being sarcastic Like "Oh, I thought we were tanking" (according to fans and "pundits" in the media) |
To my point regarding rebuilds etc. look at these teams that have done an actual rebuild that have gone nowhere , they were actually talking about this on the radio today Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Florida, etc. And then to top it off, a team with 2 of the best players in the world, Edmonton lol Feels like rebuild, retool, etc. it doesn’t really matter |
