Spencer Martin is going to be our #1? :heckno:

I guess that would be perfect for the tank. But we don't really have anyone in the horizon except Silovs.

Lol it's called home ice advantage. Do you want the crowd to cheer for the away team and do a hip hip hooray at the end of the game?

Exactly.

Ever been to a basketball game? Same reason why they play rap beats when the home team has the ball so they can get a good rhythm and flow going. When the visiting team gets the ball it's all "DEFENSE! BOOM! BOOM! DEFENSE! BOOM! BOOM!" at full volume.

It throws the visitors off their rhythm and makes it harder for them to communicate.

Home court advantage baby.

Kuzmenko doing what Boeser can't. I look forward to what we're selling at the deadline.

I'd argue that playing a sound after the home team kills a penalty gives an advantage to the away/power-play team... i.e. signals to them "watch out for the person coming out of the penalty box".

The goalie has been giving them that signal as long as I've been watching hockey. They already know when the penalty is ending.

Home field advantage is really cool in football too. Seahawks at their peak with the Legion of Boom just dominating the pass game, QB in shambles as he tries to change the play at the line, crowd going BONKERS and how many times have we seen all this lead up to a 5 yard delay of game penalty, or wasted time outs?

AzNightmare 01-26-2023 06:19 PM

Maybe in amateur hockey, but considering these guys are professionals...
I highly doubt that 1-up sfx really does anything besides fan service.

All the players around are aware of the clock, and the goalie also giving them the signal.
The players probably have that sound tuned out.

bobbinka 01-27-2023 01:39 PM

Bo sitting out tonight. Pederson waived to send down to Abby when he was practicing on first line this morning.

Incoming trade?

6thGear. 01-27-2023 01:56 PM

If there was an incoming trade, Bo would've been pulled off the ice during morning practice, not sitting out for the game. He could be nursing something as a game time situation?

MG1 01-27-2023 06:05 PM

WTF? No game coverage?

"Due to league Restrictions, This Content is NOT Available in your region."

WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I'll watch the kraken vs Calgary game, gulolol.

Hondaracer 01-27-2023 06:06 PM

MG1 01-27-2023 06:08 PM

NVM, it's on sportsnet now streaming via television provider. In my case, Shaw.

MG1 01-27-2023 06:11 PM

Canucks up 1-0

that didn't take long............ 1-1

MG1 01-27-2023 06:16 PM

Seattle up 1-0

Go, Kraken, Go!!!!

bobbinka 01-27-2023 07:10 PM

6 channels for the flames game. And the only one for Canucks doesn't work

MG1 01-27-2023 07:21 PM

Two channels and they both don't work, gulolol.............

Gotta love the silence while in commercial time. At least the breaks aren't filled with obnoxious, bass heavy, repeated shit music like AppleTV+ during Friday Night Blue Jays' games.

MG1 01-27-2023 07:22 PM

So, what's up with the blackout?

bobbinka 01-27-2023 07:37 PM

208 works, for Shaw. 201 still blackout

MG1 01-27-2023 08:20 PM

Thanks.......... I checked earlier and it had the stripe thing with the high pitch tone. I guess fans were like, I paid for this service :yuno:

MG1 01-27-2023 08:22 PM

"Bruce, There it is!" chant............ gotta love it.

Management kept Bruce in there till all the tough games were over.

Fuck 'em.......... BRUCE THERE IT IS ! ! ! ! BRUCE THERE IT IS ! ! ! ! BRUCE THERE IT IS ! ! ! !

whitev70r 01-27-2023 08:33 PM

Columbus says, 'Eff you Chicago, we can tank better than you!'

SkinnyPupp 01-27-2023 08:37 PM

Canucks playing their hearts out for the scouts.. Get me outta here!

MG1 01-27-2023 09:50 PM

Wow, I always record the games on PVR. Just checked it. Looks like they started showing the game on Shaw 201 after the end of the first period, but no sound. All the way till the end. No sound.

Anyway, 208 worked..................

Bad news for Mikheyev:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...r-acl-surgery/

I do not see Allvin and the team doctor handling this injury from Mikheyev properly.

This GM knew that Mikheyev sustained an ACL injury during preseason??

This injury sounds pretty serious if this player needs season ending surgery.

-really makes you wonder if the team doctor and Allvin are putting this player's health as a top priority.

Although I commend Mikheyev for his high pain threshold and toughness for playing through this ACL injury, he ran the risk of making the injury worse by playing through it for so many games.

Allvin could have asked Mikheyev to undergo surgery much earlier in the season so that the team can use LTIR cap room for other uses.

As for Demko's injury, Allvin had this update:

Allvin also provided an update on Canuck goaltender Thatcher Demko, saying while it's hard to give an exact timeline, he's expected to be out for at least another three weeks.

SkinnyPupp 01-27-2023 10:46 PM

I can't really find a way blame the team doctor for an ACL tear; they can happen to any athlete at any time, especially if it's already giving them issues.

AzNightmare 01-28-2023 03:00 AM

What is exactly wrong with Demko anyway? Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I don't recall any big moment in game that caused the injury. Was it from practice?

Seems pretty serious if he's been gone for this long.
