Somewhat related, I've recently been watching highlights from the Sedins era. While the skill level is definitely high, the speed of the game has increased dramatically since then. It's hard to notice when you've watched consistently over the last decade-plus but looking back now, it's obvious.

Although true, there were other teams that played fast paced. We were just used to the Sedin style that slowed the game on purpose to cycle and tire out other teams. I remember we were also very defensive.

Watching a lot of hockey this season I honestly feel we’re at a whole new generation of talent/player these days.

I’ve never in my life seen Canuck players take and receive passes as hard as Hughes and Miller send between each other, it’s absolutely insane. Their little sling passes to each other are like fucking slap shop speed and they are taking them cleanly between each other, it’s crazyyyyy

As an old school hockey guy it used to be the passer's fault if the pass was too hard and the receiver can't control it. Now the receiver has to be able to control these hard ass passes and it's their fault if they can't!

No games until Feb 6 when they go on the road. Gonna be feening for some Canucks hockey haha. Even so, I probably won't tune into the ASG. Maybe just catch some highlights on that at most.

Teddy Blueger of Canucks being the new Burrows:

spoon.ek9 01-29-2024 07:58 AM

The two of them obviously didn't eat all that food. Hope it didn't go to waste lol.

spoon.ek9 01-29-2024 04:16 PM

not canucks related, but Torts showing once again he protects his players:

good on him for shunning the idiot reporter who started those rumours

teggy604 01-29-2024 05:29 PM

Call me old school and boring, but I like the skills competition of the past. I find the new stuff too gimmicky? Like last years pitch & puck, and Splash shot. Is that what new generations like to watch? It's got the "Dude Perfect" vibes all over it.

whitev70r 01-31-2024 04:14 PM

Allvin signed to multi-year contract. After Rutherford was re-signed as well, recently.

Oh how things change in a year ... :lol. They were public enemy #1 last January. Strange to think that Tocchet was hired Jan 22, 2023. Just one year and 9 days ago.

yesterday was also 1 year anniversary of Bo's trade to NYI

whitev70r 01-31-2024 04:23 PM

^ are you saying there is a correlation :lol?

How did the public get that so wrong. Majority of people wanted Bo to stay and Miller to be traded!

Lindholm to Van

The Calgary Flames are trading center Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks for a package including winger Andrei Kuzmenko, reports TSN's Darren Dreger.

The full trade is not yet known.

Kuzmenko waived his no-trade clause to accept the move to Calgary, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

bobbinka 01-31-2024 04:52 PM

been hoping they'd trade kuzmenko! can't have 5.5mil scratched or benched every 3rd period.

so, we got 7 all-stars

SkinnyPupp 01-31-2024 04:53 PM

Poor Koozer but you knew it was coming. Hope he finds his way in Calgary

mj_39 01-31-2024 04:57 PM

The #Flames have acquired Andrei Kuzmenko, a 2024 first round pick, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo and a conditional 2024 fourth round pick from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Elias Lindholm

SkinnyPupp 01-31-2024 04:58 PM

Would like to hear you guys' takes on Lindholm

bobbinka 01-31-2024 04:59 PM

that's..... a lot of assets...

whitev70r 01-31-2024 05:02 PM

Interesting ... why would Kuzey waive his NTC?

bobbinka 01-31-2024 05:06 PM

he doesnt fit Toch's system. maybe he'll get top playing time in calgary

spoon.ek9 01-31-2024 05:10 PM

That is a high price to pay for a rental.. I'm not saying Lindholm is a bad player, he's one of Calgary's best. I guess this sends the message to the players that management is doing their part to help them win this year.

Wow.

punkwax 01-31-2024 05:14 PM

Oof. Hunter.

bobbinka 01-31-2024 05:17 PM

if it brings the cup, it'll be worth it.

we don't need the 32nd overall pick anyway

Razor Ramon HG 01-31-2024 05:17 PM

Only thing of value lost is Bruzstewicz and that's assuming he pans out in the NHL.

Kuzmenko is a cap dump, Jurmo is a nobody, 1st round pick is going to be at the end of the round, and the 4th is whatever.

Sad no Tanev.

Hondaracer 01-31-2024 05:20 PM

Center depth will be very valuable in the playoffs but does feel high

Honestly it felt like he was too dumb to play in Tochetts system, and Tochett, to his credit gave him chance after chance and he still let him down. I don’t think his lack of scoring was really an issue but moreso being a constant defensive liability

spoon.ek9 01-31-2024 05:26 PM

At least he's a right shot C. Admittedly I don't know a ton about him as a player but hopefully he can produce for us! Can't do anything now other than welcome him to the team and hope for the best :eek5x:
