$5000 is steep for a shell, you're gonna need to at least drop another $5000 to swap anything.

Manic! 12-31-2024 11:09 AM

I love that purple color.

68style 12-31-2024 12:33 PM

I don’t think that’s the purple, I had a purple 98 hatch and it’s a diff colour… this is like a burgundy.

Qmx323 12-31-2024 06:48 PM

You're right - yours was probably Dark Amethyst Pearl

This one is Vintage Plum Pearl

2001 BMW M5 | Cor Motorcars

Minty looking, low mileage E39 M5s don't fall off trees. No price listed but I saw it yesterday on FB for $64k which seems pretty reasonable if the condition is good.

That interior. :fuckyea:

Real talk if you were on the market for a $65000 car would you buy that? Vs Integra type r, gr Corolla, any m, AMG car in the last 10 years. Maserati, those weird bore score beetles:accepted:

Badhobz 01-09-2025 04:08 PM

65k is steep af, but if youre into classic bimmers, this is probably the best one.

westopher 01-09-2025 04:11 PM

My buddy had that exact spec for sale for about a year for sub 20k last year. Was a bit of a high miler and had some caveats, but with 48k in the budget for some replenishment over that one you'd have easily come out on top haha.

trollface 01-10-2025 07:37 AM

I don't think ppl cross-shop a new GR and a 01 M5

If you like old M cars, there is no substitute.

JDMDreams 01-10-2025 04:15 PM

Of course you can, $65000 is $65000 same same, you can't tell me it's x2 better than e60 m5. I've had two e39s, at that mileage you're still looking at all plastics exploding, not sure if the m5 motor has all the valley pan, vanos, timing chain guide issues. I'm sure you can find a 545i mt for $15000 if you're adamant on V8, newer better chassis and it's the same gear box or 535 turbo then drop $10000 to fix it and it will blow it out of the water.

Badhobz 01-10-2025 04:24 PM

shaddup dreams! get outta here with your man logic.

Your suppose to help foster unhealthy car purchases and support this dying hobby, but instead you come in here with your dumb ass mental gymnastics about trying to justify a newer car for the same $$$. DONT YOU GET IT!? new cars sucks.

68style 01-10-2025 04:24 PM

As usual, you do not get it.

People don't always buy things with a math formula. I like Datsuns that cost as much as new civics because I have fond memories of them when I was 13.

If you buy things based on an equation, this hobby is deff not for you lol. I'm sure you have lots of things in your life that make no mathematical sense and you bought it because you just liked it. Some ppl collect shoes, I don't get it, but I totally get it.

dark0821 01-10-2025 07:26 PM

yea but 2008 doesnt have LSD

JDMDreams 01-10-2025 08:16 PM

I saw that, but that's rcf gsf money. And jdm isf are coming in for pennies.

noclue 01-10-2025 08:18 PM

You can get a slighty used is500 for like 90% of the driving experience of an is-F with modern tech and warranty no?

Need 2011+ for a suspension that actually absorbs a bump or two

It’s more like 75-80% tops, IS500 kinda soggy, especially the brakes

For most people, it won't actually matter.

AstulzerRZD 01-11-2025 04:30 PM

Noticed in Vancouver S2k chat

A couple former ISF who bought IS500 sold the new one within a year
Unhappy with driving experience

JDMDreams 01-11-2025 04:38 PM

Can it be that different? It's a newer chassis, isn't the engine trans the same? Suspension just throw coils on.

AstulzerRZD 01-11-2025 05:04 PM

Would you take the downgrade from E92 M3 to a F30 340i? It’d that big of a different and IMO IS500 is more boaty than bone stock Charger 5.7 I had.

Does not feel like serious car, is like IS350 making V8 noise but tippy toeing on terrible tire/brake/suspension - 0 confidence on windy road.

You can change LCA,Coils, sway bar, bushing, tires, cooling but steering is still not great.

if you’re dumping 10-15k mod, probably have the money to just get LC which drives better all around - they put a lot of effort into that driving feel with Randy Pobst.

Apparently the IS-F owner is an old JDM dude that has a matching blue LFA

radeonboy 01-11-2025 05:34 PM

Wonder if the same dude let go of this suspiciously low-mileage Infiniti FX50S
