Sorry for bumping this, but has anyone on Rogers noticed their monthly bill going up because of increased taxes?

This is the SECOND time it has happened while I had this plan. Although I had this plan for a looooong time.

It used to be around ~74 bucks after tax. Then it became $76.16. Today it went to $78.40.

I log in to My Rogers thing, and the plan and fees etc haven't changed ($70), but GST and PST now add up to $8.40.

It isn't the end of the world, but annoying to see your phone bills going up, what "feels like" once a year.

I was wondering if this happening on every other cell provider?

I would call in a bug them to credit you back b/c as far as I know, taxes have not gone up.
It is more about the principle of it too. Imagine how much they are making if they over charge a lot of clients and everyone thinks the same as pays it.

Does anyone remember how much you get charged for going over on data?
I can't remember what the scale was?

From their website, it looks like they're now charging $5/100mb. Not sure if they still use the flex scale or whatever it was back then.

some tip on how to save some money on your cell phone plan. This is based on telus but i hope it works with rogers too.

Wife who is in the same plan as me got that email today except it is slightly different. Raise of $9 to $59/month according to CRTC rules in effect Sept 2.

We're currently on the $50/ 5GB government plan. I have yet to receive the email yet but probably won't be long.

Coren 08-03-2016 09:22 PM

I received that email last week. I'm surprised they took another week before sending you one

I will be leaving Rogers after my current term is up. I'm sick and tired of their shitty coverage in areas that they should be working. I was downtown around Davie and Denman for the fireworks and had no signal on Saturday last weekend. I get no signal in ROGERS FUCKING ARENA!! My office is a concrete building, that means no signal for Rogers! The funny thing is my work supplies me with a Telus phone and it works like a champ where I work.

Got my email as well, $10 increase to $65+taxes now. sigh.

My bill went up a couple of bucks a few months ago to $70 without any notice, if they do it again I'm gonna be choked. The shitty thing is even if it goes up another 10 bucks I won't be able to leave and get a better deal since all the new plans are garbage.

The only alternative is the Koodo Manitoba plan, but that comes with 5GB instead of the 6GB we're use to.

im currently on a Rogers shared plan 6gb data, shared unlimited cdn minutes
for 152 taxes in. mother doesnt even use much data, heck none of us even use the phone for calling. usually viber over wifi and then i drain the data myself

need to buy her contract out for 330. when i do.
im switching to a BYOD plan on fido the $40 one for her and 60 for myself.
once im a fido member for 9o days i can call retentions and get a retention plan for myself which will save me $$$.

Expresso 08-09-2016 03:56 PM

Yup. That's the plan I'm thinking. The 50 bucks for 3 gig. I'll get my mother the 45 dollar pLan. So 95 plus taxes. Is better then 152$ taxes I . I need to lower my cost of living.

I'm planning to switch to "Tablet plan" for my phone soon. If your family always use Viber or other VOIP services to contact each other.. you will save a lot of money quickly.

Fido has a $15 Data Flex Plan. It's meant for tablets but it'll work just fine for phones. They'll even issue you a phone number.. just make sure not to use this plan to make actual phone calls through your "Phone" app.. cause it'll cost you $1/minute.. lol

1GB - $15
up to 3GB - $25
up to 5GB - $35

Additional data after 5GB is $10/GB

im currently paying 85$ for 2gb and unlimited everything. Are there better plans out there?
Not looking to pay anything higher than what I have as a student.

The Fino plan referenced a few posts before this.

MarkyMark 08-18-2016 05:45 AM

So my bill shot up 10 dollars this month except I didn't get so much as a courtesy email about it. Fuck you Rogers.

MarkyMark 08-18-2016 07:25 AM

The guy from online chat told me to call and ask for the loyalty department lol, I'm sure this will go well.

MarkyMark 08-19-2016 01:56 PM
