flying beaver in richmond 9/10. I honestly believe this place makes some of the best pub food in vancouver. Period. That and you can watch planes take off. My bill came up to 20 dollars today which included 3 pint's of sleeman's original and a blue cheese burger with half fries have ceaser. |
Just be careful if you're planning on driving home. That place is famous for having cops nearby looking for people drinking and driving home. |

3 pints won't put someone to 0.08, but possibly 0.05 depending on who it is. Nowadays you can't be too careful. |

Copper Chimny in Downtown 3/10 I dunno what type of cuisine they are supposed to be representing, but they have chinese and japanese writing on their walls, but they serve Indian food and Bistro food. The place is fucking confuzzled. This place serves pasta, as well as seafood. Make up your fuckin' mind. My butter chicken was aweful and expensive. It was very peppery and didn't really taste like butter chicken. I'm not against spicy hot food but when there's no flavour that's covered by hot, it tastes like shit. Finally, waitresses were not attractive for the price especially when cactus club was pretty much on the other side of the block. The decor is weird but clean and you have to walk to the hotel connected to it for the washrooms? wtf? If you want real Indian food, go to the original tandoori king. At least it's made by Indian people. |

only thing i ever get at the keg is the prime rib, their filets arent that great and i'd prefer a flavorful peice of meat rather than a try-hard filet with that said last week went to guildford keg and probably had one of the best cuts ive had from there in a long time |
^filet cooked well is delicious, but the keg doesnt do it right thats for sure. you get a large gradient of doneness which pretty much ruins any filet. |
oh i love a well cooked filet, best steak imo but for it to be perfect the beef has to be nicely aged and perfectly cooked, neither of which happen at the Keg typically but for what it is, its a great steak at good prices there |
Was in Memphis for the past few days, ate some amazing down south cooking. First night went to Charlie Vergo's Rendezvous. Supposedly an institution for BBQ in Memphis. The pork shoulder was incredibly tender, full of flavor, just epically good. The ribs which are served with a dry rub can be topped with bbq sauce that sits on the tables. They don't pre-boil the ribs so you don't get that fall off the bone tenderness, but they were meaty, smoky and enjoyable which is all I can ask for. 9/10 Also tried the Flying Fish. Absolutely epic. Had a 1/2 dozen jumbo shrimp (which were simply served on ice with cocktail sauce), and an oyster po' boy. First truly authentic po' boy after eating many imitators, this one had perfectly fried fresh oysters on a nice soft roll with tomatoes, onion and pickles. Best overall meal I have had in a while. Wanted to try the entire menu. 10/10 Will try to get some pics up off my camera soon. |
