Wish I waited for the new one, just picked up the Bold 9000 today.

Ended up calling retentions and got a way better deal than stores. I'm paying a bit more for the phone but less monthly so it pays for itself over the course of 3 years.

ws6ta 08-11-2009 10:05 PM

i picked up a bold today too. how do i get it out of edge mode and into 3G? i have my bold unlocked and its stuck on edge when i go into the network crap and select 3g it doesn't work at all

Goto Manage Connection on the home screen.
Select Mobile Network Options.
Under Network mode, change it from 2G to 3G.

Gave it a shot, I cleaned it off yesterday with a cotton towel by rubbing it around. It seemed to have helped. Hopefully with your method, it will go away for a while now.

the problem is because of lint inside around the trackball. if you use a sharp tool, you can pick out the trackball and use compressed air to clean it out.

When you guys order your black bezels n what not off of cnn.cn do your contents ever show up broken?

I'm a little hesitant to order stuff since its just plastic

ws6ta 08-14-2009 08:59 AM

i can't believe I only bought a bold recently. i've been using an iphone since the day it came out and then when the bold came I went to using an iphone3g and recently the 3gs. if your actually using your "smartphone" for what its meant for and not playing crash bandicoot all day long the bold is the way to go. can't wait for the onyx to come out in november. camera will be a 3.2mp camera and the phone will be faster. what else can you ask for? okay maybe some browser improvements :p

Well either way it'd have to be shipped, I was just curious if anyone ever had problems with stuff showing up broken. I know how couriers toss things around, I could see plastic stuff breaking VERY easily from being
crushed by heavier stuff

Gh0stRider 08-14-2009 01:31 PM

mine came from the states and it was in perfect condition. wrapped in bubble wrap.

LsquareD 08-14-2009 01:44 PM

Anyone know if its possible to transfer a theme off my phone to the computer?

Alby 08-15-2009 03:54 AM

i ordered all my parts from cnn.cn as well. everything came bubble wrapped and it was all in good condition. the only problem that i had was the black bezel where the media card cover was suppose to be inserted. one of the hinges plastic was broken.

The cameras on blackberries have never been great. I'd suggest a bold, or you could wait for the 9700?

Depends which carrier you want to go with. The Tour is an amazing phone, but has a complete lack of wifi. It is CDMA only, at least to my understanding.

The 8900 is also good, 3.2mp cam but has no 3g. Where it makes up is with 256mb application memory.

The Bold (9000) is the all in one package really. Snappy processor (624mhz I think), 128mb app memory, and great keyboard. If you could wait it out for another month or two for the 9700 (aka the bold 2) I would. There is also Odin (Storm 2) coming out in the fall. Early reviews seem quite promising.

you're right about the tour only being cdma. 8900 doesn't have 3g so if your want to surf the net etc. don't bother with it (at least I wouldn't). The bold is an awesome phone. The storm sucks balls. I bought it right when it came out and I used it for half a day total. (it also isn't 3g) Absolutely nothing good about it other then the 3.2mp camera. get the bold now if you need a phone. sell it when the onyx (9700) comes out. it'll basically be a bold with a more sleek profile, 3.2mp camera, and faster processor. i know i'll be picking up an onyx when it comes out. the bold has literally turned me into a bb fanboy lol (yes its that good) the only reason I even got a blackberry to begin with was sms txts on an iphone can't have an mp3 alert. I did get into the files of the iphone and replace the apple tone with a 30 second mp3 but it was so annoying because it wouldn't turn off until the whole 30 seconds was done. I really hate HTC phone's too. they are way too slow.

Either way I cant see the cameras on Blackberries ever being as good as the dedicated cybershot phones or Nokia's camera phones. Thats just not what theyre meant for.
