need more rain to melt the snow

ppl still getting stuck in the alley

Psykopathik 12-27-2008 06:38 PM

the soft snow turned into glaciers today. i got suck 3 times in my own complex. yup all snowtires too. as soo as i got out. no problems at all. fucking strata doesnt plow shit all.

even big SUVs and pickups were getting stuck

00civicHB 12-27-2008 09:35 PM

I helped dug/pushed out 4 cars today in my neighborhood... the rain turned the snow into heavy slush which is getting cars of all make and sizes stuck... I hope more rain come tonight to melt it some more, I am running out of supplies at home...

I spent an hour today digging a trench from my driveway to the nearest drain so relieve flooding on the driveway too...

Not really racist! 12-27-2008 09:49 PM

please dont freeze tonight...

i heard there might be a storm soon..no?

MG1 12-27-2008 10:11 PM

It's kinda neat the way you can drive for a long time without steering, because the ruts/grooves keep you on track. You just take care of the gas and brakes. LOL.

danned 12-27-2008 10:31 PM

the snow/slush at my back lane gives so many problems to drivers
and the street we are on

I'm surprised people don't go out and shovel that stuff off. I did mine this morning and pretty much throughout the whole time it's been snowing so I can get in/out of my back lane.

All you need is a decent spade to get underneath the ice/compacted snow and your snow shovel. If everyone did the little spot in front of their house, we'd have clear back alleys.

lilaznviper 12-27-2008 10:47 PM

its slush under all that snow and slush makes it much more heavier

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - With no more snow expected for Metro Vancouver, it's now time for the "Big melt."

Higher temperatures and lots of rain will wash away the snow that's accumulated over the last few weeks.

Lisa Coldwells with Environment Canada says our snowfall could be record-breaking.

"We've had 88 centimetres of snow fall in the month of December, the all-time record is 89.7, which fell in December of 1964, so we're awfully close to an all-time record."

She says with that in mind, drivers beware.

"On the roads we're just going to have continual melting which makes for lots of slush. If you've got regions you

have to drive through with lots of puddles or you can clear off your drains to help this water drain away that's

very good. It's going to be very mucky outside."

As for next week Coldwells says we might see a few more flurries but nothing heavy

I hope they're right...but so far, they're always wrong :(

we have tracks in our alley

the problem is the middle is about one foot high.

i manage to get my front wheels in contact with the cement but the snow lifted up my car and end up doing a burn out :(

Seriously people are so fucking lazy these days. How hard is it to shovel out a parking spot in front of your house? That way cars don't have to wait at the end of the block for another car coming through. I plow out 2-3 spots for my gf and my house and lazy idiot neighbours park there instead. Jackasses.

AzNightmare 12-28-2008 02:46 AM

It seems like some streets like Victoria Dr. only have 1.5 lanes now.
Traffic is ridiculously slow. And when travelling Southbound on Victoria and 41st, after the intersection, the street lanes curve a bit. And there's too many drivers that don't realize this and just continue going straight cutting into the right lane.

My back alley has a thin layer of ice formed on the bottom under all the snow. I got stuck two times and it took me over 30 mins to free my car. Even with the snow gone, my tires weren't gripping to the ice very well.

I'm not sure whether to invest in boots or not now, since there isn't going to be anymore snow. But the water level might be rising I suppose.

Yeah, it's unbelievable. I'm lucky I have three big, hefty kids to help with the snow, although I did 80% of the shoveling so far this year. I love shoveling, because it's mindless work. I do however, pity the elderly and those who are not so healthy. My mother is 89 years old and lives all by herself in a house in East Van. There's no way she can be out there shoveling snow. It's a good thing the next door neighbour does it for her. They do it without being asked. I live in Langley, and it's tough for me to get out there every day.

Anyway, having said that, I do get pissed at people who refuse to shovel their sidewalks when they have plenty of able bodies living in the house. Mind you, they are skinny Asians. LOL.

I was at the T&T complex on First Avenue and Renfrew the other day and saw a skinny little Asian guy trying to shovel the snow. Sad, just sad. Would have made for a good Milk ad........... "Must drink more milk!"

It's sunny today! =D

No kidding. That's why I don't shovel a parking spot out front. I'll clear out drainage, and make a small path so people don't have to navigate over the huge snow bank to cross the road, but I refuse to shovel a parking spot out front. My lazy ass neighbour will more than likely steal the spot (they're one of those people that don't shovel their sidewalk).

I'm just sick of people who take advantage of other people's hard work for their advantage. Case in point - Christmas Day - me and my old man shovelled the back alley all the way to the side street. Made a nice clearing so we (and our neighbours) could get out to the side street without getting stuck. Two hours later we come out to leave, and we have 2 cars, on each side of the alley, parked on the spots we cleared (actually blocking the exit of the alley). That got me super pissed...

However, I will shovel the back alley, and a spot in front of our garage. If we have guests, I'll always tell them to go around back and park in front of the garage. That way, if we need to get out, we can easily move the car. At least no one will take the spot, and they'll be out of the way of cars passing.

You should go out and bury your idiot neighoubours car with snow. Pack it nice and tight around his car.

Those lazy retards. I got pissed at ppl around my house not shoveling their snow cuz it's hard for me to get out if I wanted to. So I shoveled snow for them, but dumped all that snow in front and side of their house to clear path. hahahah

lilaznviper 12-28-2008 11:06 AM

i shoveled a parking spot in front of my house and someone comes to park in it fuken jackass

next time when i leave im gunna fill it up with some snow so its not parkable

welfare 12-28-2008 11:09 AM

there should be kids going around charging like 5-10$ to shovel drive/walkways/parking stalls. like when the kids come around in fall to rake leaves, or mow the lawn, etc... do kids even do that sort of thing anymore? i know if i were like 13 or 14, i'd be out there making a killing.
i'm sure plenty of people would be more than happy to pay some kid 5-10$ for a little hard work

welfare 12-28-2008 11:21 AM

and what's the deal with strata? aren't they supposed to at least plow the driveway? my GF's sisters place was completely untouched when i went over there last night. the round-about to the entrance, the parking along side it, and all the parking out front was covered in big icy ruts. that's where all the visitor parking is supposed to be. where are visitors supposed to park there cars?
i'd be beaking at strata pretty hard right now if were her
wtf are they paid for?

but then, whats the point in even shoveling it in the first place?
if you're gonna do anything, you should shovel it, but leave just enough snow to slip a couple land mines underneath.
that'll teach those shit eaters

Bonka 12-28-2008 01:21 PM

I've noticed so many stratas being so stingy with shovelling..They barely shovel enough of the sidewalk to clear a path for a person to walk sideways..nevermuind the parking lot gates..I'd talk to the maintenance person in the building..

I'm guessing people these days are all or nothing, and likely the latter. If they're not going to do a good job shovelling, they won't bother at all. I just make sure the areas I shovel are done well so cars or people have it easier to go on.

I'm personally glad I cleared out the top snow in my alley so cars can get through. Sure beats digging someone out in the middle of the night.
