they are notoriously for being wrong all the time...you would have better accuracy sticking your head out the window

they are consistent in being inconsistent

http://vancouver.weatherpage.ca/images/1px.gif http://vancouver.weatherpage.ca/images/8x8arrow.gif Synopsis. Issued Jan 25th, 3:10pm http://vancouver.weatherpage.ca/images/1px.gif
A ridge of high pressure moving into southern BC from the north is keeping the skies clear tonight and most of Monday. On Monday evening the skies will begin to cloud over as front associated with a low moving into the Gulf of Alaska moves towards the south coast of BC. It looks pretty certian that we will see snow on Tuesday but the question remains as to how much snow we will see. We believe that the precipitation will fall as snow at all elevations in Greater Vanouver on Tuesday and a change to rain is not likely until perhaps the bulk of the precipitation falls. The latest run of the GFS model shows that wide spread snow will start in Greater Vancouver by 5 or 6 am Tuesday morning and then taper off to scattered flurries around 8 am dumping 5 to 8 cm during the morning rush hour. Scattered flurries or mixed rain and snow showers will persist for the remainder of the day potentially dropping another couple of centimeters of wetter snow. The NAM model on the other hand shows the snow beginning around 7 or 8 am and then tapering off to scattered flurries or mixed snow and rain showers around 3pm. This scenario would mean that we would see 10 to 15 cm by the time the evening rush hour hits on Tuesday. This is something that we will keep a close watch on over the next couple of days.

I use 3 sites and average the 3

Environment Canada
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/....html#detailsf

The Weather Network
http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/CABC0284

and
The Weather Underground
http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/71892.html

If you look at all 3 then adjust for your exact locations, you can pretty much nail it 9 times out of 10.

I live in the Fraser Heights are of Surrey. (The only nice place in Surrey on the Langley Port Kells boarder)

We usually get 3x the amount of snow expected. We still have 2 feet of snow on the ground from the last dump.

I am guessing we will get 20cm Tuesday and another 5-10cm over the course of the week here.

hotjoint 01-26-2009 06:57 AM

Not really racist! 01-26-2009 10:13 AM

fuck, if it snows i hope it doesn't stick...

Gh0stRider 01-26-2009 10:22 AM

5 to 10 cm of snow is expected over areas of the southern mainland and east vancouver island by tuesday evening. 5 cm of snow is expected over coastal sections of the north and central coast by tonight. 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected over inland sections of the north and central coast by tomorrow afternoon. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions.

Alphamale 01-26-2009 11:24 AM
