Wow I cam back to Vancouver like 12 hours ago and the roads are nice and clear. Perfect timing. Didn't see any snow on the roads higher than an inch or two :)

That's pretty hardcore. Because most puma's are flat like racing shoes and have about 4mm thickness of rubber on the bottom.

If you want REAL snow shoes, Like the ones that will keep your feet warm in -20'C or something, I think any NorthFace boots are good. I almost bought a pair from Sportchek. But they are like over $100. And that's the reason why I didn't buy them. I don't need them that badly considering it barely snows here.

That's the same logic that leads people to not buy snow tires, and then get stuck at home for a month.

But I also stuck with 4-seasons and I practically had to go out every day through the holidays. It got the most troublesome when I had to find parking at my gf's house, but besides that, the driving was absolutely fine and quite fun at times. As long as you're not stuck behind some idiot going 30km/h, driving in the middle of two lanes in the main streets. Now those people should of got themselves stuck at home for a month to keep traffic flow to some sort of decency.

Well "warmth" wise might not be a huge problem in Vancouver, but one that won't slip easily and is water-repelling enough would do ...

thumper 01-16-2009 05:42 AM

well my credit card took a hit today. i nailed a pothole a few days back and bubbled one of my all-seasons and said enough was enough. tried to buy locally what i wanted (nokian) and of course there is no stock. ended up buying a dealer take-off set from an auto dealer in WA across the border on craigslist and now it's here (after damn UPS took their $150 cut after taxes :flamemad: )...

can anyone recommend a place to mount/balance 18" tires? i would like to go to advance but it's too far for me to get there after work before closing (ken needs at least 1hr to do it that slowpoke :p )

Liquid_o2 01-16-2009 10:05 AM

Where do you live? Dale's Alignment is really really good. They are located in Langley just off the bypass.

thumper 01-16-2009 11:08 AM

METRO VANCOUVER - The fog is lifting, and once it's gone, it's gone for good!

Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Coldwells said today will mark the end of a 19-day foggy stretch (narrowly missing the January record of 21 days of fog).

Replacing the pea soup will be a couple of cold, sunny days. And we sure could use them.

Up until today, Coldwells said, "We've only had 6.5 hours of bright sunshine so far this month. Six point five. So that tells you how dull it's actually been. The average for the month should be 60."

Arctic air moving in from the interior is pushing out the fog, Coldwells said, and bringing low temperatures and a chance of snow.

"What we're looking at is sometime Saturday night towards Sunday morning, there's just a little bit of moisture coming in with the deepening arctic air," she said. "It could give us some snow. At this moment it's looking like it's going to be too dry, and we'll probably just end up with a little bit of a skiff of snow perhaps that will fall out overnight."

Coldwells said there's a chance of some heavier snow Monday night or Tuesday, however, as the arctic air is pushed out by a weather system from the Pacific.

Depending on how the systems interact, we could see either wet snow or rain.

Environment Canada says 30% chance of snow!

K-Dub 01-24-2009 07:26 PM

4-8cm on Tuesday.

CaptFiero 01-24-2009 07:56 PM

Yep, winter isn't over yet. I predict we will still have small snow batches though March. Middle to end of March I'll pull the snow tires off. Wife and I are goin gon a road trip down through the Oregon/California coast. Spring break beach parts are always a blast.

With any luck I'll have the new V8 done and on the road for the road trip.

Carl Johnson 01-24-2009 08:01 PM
