Kovolchuk's agent said there is no way he'll head to the KHL next year but mind you his agent is more worried his own cut which he'll loss if he does dart over to the KHL.

All these so-called hockey writers are full of shit. They say the teams Kovy could potentially go to are Boston, LA, NYR, Philly and even Vancouver. Never did I hear any of them mention NJ. Reading the paper today, apparantely the Atlanta GM has been talking to the NJ GM for days and yet nobody knows about it. Do writers just make up teams cuz they have a guy who wants out (eg Jack Johnson from LA) so is that why LA is the running or is it actually based on fact?

Alot of the writers that reported on the Kovalchuk sweepstakes are well reported. They choose not to write about this until Kovalchuk rejected the first offer. The only "writer" who chose to shove the subject down our throats is Eklund from www.hockeybuzz.com. Eklund constantly wrote that the said teams were interested, so they were always in the running. The issue with Eklund is that his "sources" are many of his friends from around hte league who choose to remain annomynous, which throws his already terrible reputation down the drain. If anyone remembers, there was a year where he was on Sportsnet for Trade Deadline. He reported that Ryan Smyth has signed a contract extension worth X amount of dollars for 4years, and he CONFIRMEd it so Snet reported it. Two minutes later on TSN and everywhere else, Ryan Smyth gets traded to the islanders. and you could see, that Darren Dreger's face. It was red to the bone and embarrased. He left the network afterwards to save his own credibility.

^imo, sportsnet is a joke when it comes to anything to do with inside sources or trades.

TSN has the trade deadline locked down. and done professionally.

if you're a GM, who are you going to call to let know your trade plans, nick kipreos? or bob mckenzie?

Hodgson Back at Full Health in Brampton But Not Happy with Dave Gagner

He got 2 assists in his first game back and was named first star.

Canucks' top prospect Cody Hodgson declared himself at full health Friday morning, after scoring two assists and being named First Star in Thursday night's 4-2 Brampton win over Erie - Hodgson's first game action since sitting all season with a bulging disk in his back.

The 19-year-old was named the CHL Player of the Year after 43 goals and 92 points in the 2008-09 season with Brampton, but suffered the back injury before Canucks' training camp in the fall.

Hodgson was less-than-impressive in camp with his skating obviously suffering from the injury, which also resulted in a lack of power in his legs.

After being sent back to Brampton, Hodgson embarked on a full rehab program that resulted in him missing the World Juniors and taking a lot longer to return than most onlookers expected.

Hodgson said Friday morning that the wait was annoying, but worth it.

"It was a long time coming and it was definitely too long. It was frustrating and it was tough not to get down (mentally) but I felt much better last night, and after a full week of solid practice there was no pain, so it was time to test it in a game."

But Hodgson is not happy with at least one member of the Canucks, saying the team had no input into his back rehab, and then adding that he won't be working further with Dave Gagner, the Canucks Director of Player Development.

Hodgson originally hurt his back last July when working out at Gagner's hockey school.

“Most of my rehab has been independent, through Dr.(Tony) Miniaci in Cleveland and doctors in Toronto and the trainer here in Brampton,” said Hodgson.

“In the summer I won't be training with Mr. Gagner.”

Instead, Hodgson, Dr. Miniaci, and the Battalion training staff will continue to closely monitor the situation.

"The strength in my legs came back after doing all the physio. That was about a couple weeks ago when I felt that I was at full power in both legs, but there was still a little pain so it took some extra time to make sure there was no pain. Hopefully it doesn't return. That's the biggest thing right now. There's still maintenance to do and work before and after practice and after games to make sure it doesn't come back."

Hodgson will finish the season with Brampton and will likely be sent to Manitoba once the Battalion's season is over. Future plans with regards to making an impact with the Canucks is the furthest thing from Hodgson's mind at this point.

"I don't know. The Canucks have said that most good players take a year or two after junior. The only thing I'm really focussing on right now is playing hockey for the Brampton Battalion and taking it one step at a time. I just returned and played one game and felt good in that one game, so hopefully it feels better each and every game."

Wow, this is so sad. I remember watching his interview about been gay with his dad on TSN a couple months ago. It seem like him and his dad had a very strong and loving relationship.

Mckenzie is friends with most gm's, watch him trade deadline day he has the gms giving him updates non stop.

Devils' GM Lou Lamoriello knows the East is relatively wide open this year and his surprising Devils have a chance. That's all he needs to hear to take action on a player like Kovalchuk, who can be a game breaker. Odds are Lamoriello won't be able to sign Kovalchuk, unless the player is prepared to take a nice haircut to stay in New Jersey.
