amazing trade for NJ tho. even if Kovi doesnt resign, everyone they traded is easily replacable and their draft pick is going to be like 25th so no huge loss

ATL i think got a pretty good package
Oduya is exactly what ATL needs, some scoring help on the blueline.
Niclas Bergfors is an amazing talent. He is no Kovalchuk, but can score some pretty goals
Cormier...we know what he brings

The reality is, the east is so tight that with the collection they picked up today, it certainly puts more depth in that lineup. Its for that big playoff push.

It was all about saving money for the Atl owner(s). Basically by trading him now and not waiting until after the break they saved close to a million dollars in salary which is quite a bit of money when you're getting like 10,000 - 12,000 fans per game.

NJ basically traded Bieksa, Grabner, some dirty laundry, and a draft pick that probably wont ever see the NHL for one of the top players in the league. Even if they only get an extra round or 2 into the playoffs, they didnt lose anything of major significance.
