Oleophobic 08-07-2011 02:10 PM

So I decided to keep the Ultra Optics. Took me two tries to get it on properly with zero dust lol. Dust strips are tricky as hell to use. I wish they had a cover for the front as well for you to peel off at the end instead of just the cover on the back where the adhesive is. It was hard to tell if the dust was on the front or the back. 2nd try didn't require me to use dust strips so I guess my advice for anyone is to try to get it perfect the first time so you don't have to use the strips to remove any dust underneath.

Have to compare it side by side with my friend's SGS2 to see whether the dampening of the screen is that bad. So far it seems okay. Anti-fingerprint properties = win though

I've ordered myself the Ulta Oleophobic set. I'm getting irritated with all the oil and residue that keeps showing up on the phone from my hands and face.

On a side note, is anyone else experiencing a longer than usual delay when they press the "Home" button. It's so annoying. Any screen I'm in, if I press the Home button, it'll take a second or two and then go to the home screen. Similarly, when the phone screen is off and I press a button to wake it, it takes a second or two to turn on...

!MiKrofT 08-07-2011 06:19 PM

I orderd the same set. Should be arriving shortly.

I don't have any lag when the phone's on. Its less than a second after clicking home. When the phone's off the lag is normal. The phone's in a very low power state so I expect that.

Got any fix for the browser lag or just simply use another browser from the app store?

lol. I take it you didn't read the notes before installing the latest ROM. Yes there's browser lag so install any other browser. :)

If you really like the stock browser you can try flashing this patch in CWM:

I do, just wondering if there's a fix out yet :D

I need a battery fix. I google searched that I should upgrade to android 2.3.4 as it improves battery life. From 100%, my battery went down to 22% after 15hours of use (light wifi browsing, games) on 2.3.3.

It's issues like this that make me reluctant to upgrade. I'm using 2.3.3 and my battery life is awesome. I don't want it to get worse by upgrading...I wonder why yours is any different than mine... :S

!MiKrofT 08-07-2011 09:19 PM

Gaming takes up a lot of battery. Normal usage for me always nets me around 24 hours. I'm at 12.5hours with 65% left. Really depends on what you do. If you actually use the phone a lot with the screen on it'll drain like any other android phone.

Gerbs 08-07-2011 09:27 PM

Anyone know if i can buy sgp ultra optics locally/

Euro7r 08-07-2011 09:28 PM

I guess this is normal to get this kind of battery life.

The battery life and heat (overheating?) with the S2 are the two things that are bugging me. The area just above the battery gets quite hot when I wifi or use it for a prolong period of time. I believe that is where the CPU is located, that is why it's hot.

No, but there is an eBay retailer that sells from Canada. Same pricing (Actually a little bit cheaper.) It will ship out and arrive within a few days...

...anyone else experiencing a weird glitchy format when replying to a thread on rev today?

I'm sure it'll arrive faster than if you were to buy from SGP directly.
Its worth a shot, I dunno how you're still using the stock protector with all those images on it :lol

That's not the one I was talking about though. I wouldn't want to put a matte finish on this phone. I'd want it to be a nice gloss just like the screen is. This is the Oleophobic one which prevents grease/smudge/oil AND fingerprints.

If it's shipping from Ontario, it would definately arrive faster because it won't be going through any customs...

LOOL, im barely gettign through it with these images haha. i dont think ill last another 4 days. Ill probably take it off and fuck it. I rather get a case local then online, as i don't have a credit card yet.

parm104 08-07-2011 11:58 PM

One thing I don't understand is how people are getting dust and debris under their protectors...installation is just like any other protector? Use a can of compressed air to get rid of the dust...

If not, spend another $5 and get Future Shop/Best Buy to install it for you..these aren't very difficult in my opinion.

!MiKrofT 08-08-2011 01:03 AM

Dust just floats around. I buff my phone with a microfibre and then compress air it. Little dust can be removed with tape or the stickers pretty easily.

Plus you get 2 in a pack.

I have the Ultra Crystal.
$14. Save on shipping.

Installed my Glas. Ridiculously easy to install.
Didn't affect the screen at all. It protrudes out a bit (.6mm) and the home button is recessed, but it's great. The epoxy home button that it came with is ugly as shit, so I left it alone. At least now I know which way is up :fullofwin: I'm seeing alot more fingerprints than when I had it bare, but it's just a simple wipe away.

Phone looks exactly the same, except I lost the "hidden" menu and back buttons. But other than that, no complaints.

I might wanna take that Mesh Back off of you Mirkoft.

Sure just PM me if you want. I posted it in the Used Cellular Phone section.

BTW. The menu and back buttons. Are they cutout physically? Or is there still glass underneath and the black colouring is just gone?

SpuGen 08-08-2011 01:36 AM

The entire face is glass, no cutouts other than the Speaker and home button.
It's just the Black/White portion that's removed in the shape of the home/back button.

The black/White (depending on which one you get) is actually the silicon sealant. So you can "see" the buttons. Doesn't really bother me though.

I think when you're trying to line it up perfectly thats when dust tends to land back on your screen and create bubbles
