Anyone know how to disable the Gmail application? I can't just uninstall it from the phone because it's pre-loaded, all I can do is reverse the updates that I have done...I prefer the Samsung Email app instead and it's annoying getting 2 different email notifications every time!

Also, why do MMS show up as video files!? Every time someone sends me a picture ;)...it shows up as a video and plays the picture still in a video format!

cctw 08-08-2011 12:07 PM

^go to ur gmail app -> more -> under account settings click on ur email -> uncheck the notification box

either that or paid version of titanium backup allows you to freeze the app or even uninstall it

!MiKrofT 08-08-2011 02:44 PM

For me immediately after I added my gmail account I went into the account sync settings and unchecked gmail sync.

Oleophobic 08-08-2011 04:29 PM

really you guys don't like the native gmail app?
what's wrong with it?
I find it much better, not to mention faster than the samsung email app

I currently use K9 mail for all my gmail accounts and Moxier Mail for my exchange push emails.

I just find the interface kinda clunky.

Anybody know where to get a decent screen protector locally?

!Yaminashi 08-08-2011 06:33 PM

There's nothing really available locally besides ghost armor, invisible shield and the cheaper ones.

All the good stuff has to be purchased online unfortunately

Psykopathik 08-09-2011 06:32 AM

Sold to Speed Syndicate.

lol. I take it you didn't read the notes before installing the latest ROM. Yes there's browser lag so install any other browser. :)

If you really like the stock browser you can try flashing this patch in CWM:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [02/08][KG6]VillainROM 2.4.2 for SGS2 <The ROM Noonski Couldn't Drain The Battery On

What MiKrofT said, or flash an ODEXED ROM.
If you like near stock, the try DarkyROM, or LeoMar75 Revolution ROM

I've been testing playing with some of the ROMs: I had LeoMar75 last week, CM7 over the weekend and now I'm trying out DarkyROM.

RevolutionROM has a cool app (like VRTweaks) for you to flash themes/mods. The Developer is also very good and supportive..the noobs haven't broke him yet...lol

I've only had DarkyROM for less than 12hours, so I can't really comment yet.

CM7 is fast, good battery, but I got a lot of random force closes of system processes.

!Mikroft, FEEDBACK ON THEM!?

!MiKrofT 08-09-2011 08:00 PM

Haven't installed yet. But seeing this is like my 3rd sgp I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm expecting a call so I'll apply it later.

After you do install, can you please comment on the protector's ability to minimize oil and grease. That is what I am mainly concerned about. Please let us know whether it actually works as a product that minimizes yucky oils from our skins.

!MiKrofT 08-09-2011 08:26 PM

On the galaxy s vibrant it reduces it but doesn't eliminate it. It is still a glossy surface afteral and nothing you can apply will really reduce it much.

LOL! I'll end up spending more money on touch screen capable gloves than I would on a screen protector!

As mentioned before, my problems is when my face touches the phone, oil/lotion comes off my face to my phone. Only on this phone have I had this problem...I think it's just more noticeable because the screen is so big.

Psykopathik 08-10-2011 06:27 AM

there are gloves for touch screen use.

You guys are too sensitive about a oils and grease. It's a phone, not a 5 Star Hotel's Lobby Mirror... :D
