Sorry if you've answered this already (I kept up with the first 30 pages or so, but haven't been able to keep up lately). How exactly did you purchase the phone? Did you start a plan with Bell, and pay some sort of discounted price? Or did you outright buy the phone from them? What did it cost you?

Bought it outright. No contract.

Which page was the page on how to install roms? Which roms would u guys say is good to use first time using android =./

bobola 08-27-2011 05:50 PM

Hows this ?

FS: Samsung Galaxy S 2 unlocked $150 (12months)

Thinking of the extra payment per month as payment for the phone.

1 year's not bad considering if the value of sgs2 doesnt drop much.

*EDIT*

They said they dont have stock till next week.
But they're asking me to activate the plan first and get me the phone next week.
HMM.?

In my experience, custom roms slow down the performance of the phone. Best bet is to stick with stock rom and root it.

What are the benefits of rooting?

Why would you move back to a smaller screen? The only 2 things you'll get outta the trade is a physical keyboard and BBM.

It allows the apps you install have full access to the file system. Some apps won't run properly unless you root it. You can also install "non-market" apps, if you know what I mean.

Blackberry :fuckthatshit:

Why would you move over to a company thats bound to fail?
Android is slowly going to take over, whether the RIM fanboys like to admit it or not.

And yes, I was once a RIM fanboy as well

!MiKrofT 08-28-2011 02:07 PM

LOL. I actually really like the email handling on my Android. Granted I'm using Moxier Mail but it works great and is just as fast as mail on a BB.

JayEch 08-28-2011 04:35 PM

just got the phone. Looks great haha. Havent really played or tinkered with it yet, but is there a way to check the phones total minutes used? err lifetime of the phone.

yeah worried i bought my phone used. When i watched the unboxing there was a sticker on the box that said dont accept if the seal is broken and on my box there isnt a sticker at all. Also no color on the back of the box. Wasnt even shrink wraped. Just poped open. Should i be worried? Anyone with pics of their box? haha. Sorry for being so paranoid, just havent bought a phone for soo long. Just switched from bb.

I went from the iphone4 ---> SGS I ---> SGSII and haven't regretted it. I feel that Android is easier to use and has alot more functionality in my case. I have had my SGSII for the last two months and never a problem. Paid $4700HKD when it first came out in Asia. =P

Armind 08-28-2011 07:50 PM

If only the battery life was better :(

XDA Developers.

This is the rom I am using, ultra stable and super fast, haven't had an issue with it yet. However, phone needs to be rooted so read up on that.

I have been flashing roms since my original SGSI, bricked a few times but never had an issue with the SGSII.

Rooting gives you root access to the device so you can do a full backup of your existing rom and other cool things.

You must have chosen some crappy roms. I have flashed a total of 12 roms between my SGSI and SGSII and they all offered improvements. However, I did read alot of posts before chosing a particular rom.
