-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Usually I post on XDA and find all my answers and more on that site, but I'm glad I have a localized forum where people can talk about their experiences with this Galaxy S II phone. I've used mine for about a week now and am pleased with it on the most part. There are some things I am having issues with though... - The keyboard; I can't get used to the Samsung keyboard and have never been a fan of Swype. I wish it was more like the Nexus One/Nexus S. - Although my battery life is excellent, I get at least a day out of it which is what I was hopin for, but charging this phone takes FOREVER! I've been charging it for at least an hour now and it's only at 52% charge...When I called Samsung about it, they told me it should take about an hour to charge (which I find to be ridiculous.) - Call Log; I think it makes no sense to have ALL these extra logs in there. All I need are my calls made, received calls and missed calls...Either I can chose one or the other or ALL...nothing in between...I don't need to know who I sent an sms to in my call log :s Apart from these issues, I'm happy with the phone. I'm currently running Android 2.3.3 with WKF3 firmware. I'm contemplating on upgrading but I don't want to mess with the success of my battery life at this moment... |
I think you'll regret selling the galaxy s 2. Hands down the best phone I've ever used Posted via RS Mobile |
note, when taking photos with flash, make sure that your hands/fingers are NO WHERE NEAR the flash area. the reflection off your hand washes out the photo and makes it all pale. I learned the hard way after an evening of dim light photos. also using a loader seems to eat the battery a bit too. |

The charge takes around 3 hours or so. Never really bothered me since I charge it when I sleep. Sms log. Yup this bugged me too. However o was able to find a patched apk that has this removed. |

To be honest, I didn't really want to, but I was short for a trip to Disneyland for the gf this October. Now i regret it and want the phone back, but come October I guess it will be worth it. |
im returning my phone. its just a bunch of annoying quirks i can't deal with. Back to the Sony Ericsson S710i :okay: how do i check the call timer? |

Can you elaborate on the quirks that annoyed you? That way we can see if a lot of other people are experiencing the same issues/annoyances... |
If anyone is looking for an Invisible Shield for their Galaxy S II, I have 2 extra's that I don't mind selling...PM if interested with your number...it'll be cheaper than in stores. |

I just sold it tonight. Sorry for the people who PMed me earlier. I have my Nexus S and I love it to death. I know I'd love the SGSII even more but I couldnt fathom spending another 200$ on it. I can't even sell my NS right now; I got zero hits. I just bought a new camera too so money was kinda tight. I hope the new owner enjoys his phone. He got a good deal considering what everyone charges on here. |
Hah =( damn, too late. I'm interested in picking up anyone else's SG2! PM me! |

-looks like a kid with 8 bit programming designed the menus and icons. icons and menus look blocky and plain. -vibrator motor too loud. actually woke me up when muted. -screen keeps turning on for every notification -videos are not listed the way they appear on my SD card. should be same alphabetical order -too hard to unlock screen with 1 hand. -screen way too bright even on lowest setting (at night) -rear panel will likely need replacing as i change sd cards a lot and the battery need recharging too often for my comfort. i ordered extra batteries and a charger (not here yet) i am a HEAVY user. -apps and GPS weren't good enough and up to the standard i'm used to. not enough choices. -screen colors are gorgeous and is huge, but like with a HDTV, having 720P on a 55" screen is just wrong. -facebook app was horrible as were the internet explorer apps. firefox, skyfire etc. all this was based on a comparison to iOS4. if you've use and iPhone you'll understand with all this and the high cost of the phone. I can't really justify keeping a device that doesn't totally please me. the phone is stellar, just not for me. |
^ trade ya iphone 4 32gb for it =P |
@Turbo E Most of the cosmetic user interface things can be changed. I am still running Touch Wiz but pretty much changed everything there is to change. I love the ability to customize everything. And Widgets are awesome! Everything is already there and I barely have to open any apps. It takes a while to setup everything to your liking, but once it's done...it's super awesome sauce. |
^What she said I actually dont have the issue with my screen turning on at every notification. The only time it turns on is when I press a button, or when I get a call. And you know that you can unlock the phone with the home button right? Press it once to wake it up, press it again to unlock |
Facebook app does suck I agree. |

I don't have any problems with the Facebook app but Firefox is definitely shitty. I have no issues with the regular browser though or the GPS programs. In fact, I've always found the Google Maps navigation+the Car Dock Navigation mode to be better than the iPhone's. It's easier to use and more efficient. I am contemplating rooting my phone to try out a few new features but I'm satisfied with Touch Wiz 4 as it does bring a lot to the table (even though I've been on CyanogeMod on my Nexus One and Nexus S for years.) |
I love the fact that google maps on android allows you to view bus times. Very handy. I remember I wasn't able to do that on the iphone. Not sure if things have changed since last year. |
anyone else having problems with bells data right now? my phone cant connect to the net today |
ok it seems like im not the only one with this issue..i cant get my data to work at all without a wireless connection |

Moomoocow asked first tho most flash pr0n sites work flawlessly if thats what your into :D note phone going back tomorrow so whoever wants it, its gotta be today and you have to come to my place in coquitlam. i can't get out |
I've google'd this problem, and it seems like lots of people are having this problem but haven't seen any good solutions. My battery usage shows that Maps and Wifi sharing are eating up a combined 70% of my battery usage. I have Wifi sharing disabled, and haven't used it at all. And I don't use maps, and have GPS disabled. How do I stop these apps from running? |
