I'm impressed. But mine is still better :p. Bell FTW

Heads up to those considering signing up with Rogers, my friend recently told me if you go to Wireless Etc at the Costco by Stadium, ask the dude there if you can be set up on a public servant plan (I believe that's what it's called). He didn't say which dude exactly but if you mention something about a cheap $20 plan the guy should know what you're talking about.

250 daytime minutes
250 incoming
unlimited evenings and weekends 6pm
unlimited text
caller id/voicemail

$20 +2.35 gov't fee + tax = $25.03

If you add data it's $25/500MB I believe but I've heard some friends say when they called in to cancel data (they only added data to get the phone free/cheap for the purpose of flipping it) and the retentions rep offered a $5 discount.

I think this is probably the best plan out there for Rogers outside of retentions.

I promised myself I wouldn't involve myself into a "phone plan" conversation in a Samsung Galaxy S II specific thread but I can't help it after seeing everyone's posts here...

People keep talking about what the "best" plan out there is but it's not something that can be measured...What my be an awesome plan for someone may be a horrible plan for another person. It depends on their needs. Personally, I use 2000+ minutes a month on my phone and having any one of your plans would be useless for me.

I am paying $35/month - Unlimited Calling in/out
+ $20/month - 500mb data + visual vm, caller ID, who called, name display, unlimited text messages, unlimited picture/video messages.

Now let's get back to talking about THE PHONE and not our carriers!!

I have the Glas. I did a mini review on it a few pages back.

But if it's too pricey for you, I have a new Ultra Crystal laying around. It's the strongest film they sell. Gerbs was supposed to buy it, but he never called me.. so I dunno.

I'll be at the RS meet tomorrow, so if you want it, just pm me your number and I'll bring it with me. $14. List price.

I like seeing people get good deals on phone plans. Back a couple years ago it was the Enbridge/CT plan on Bell, now it's this PSP on Rogers.
Hate seeing people get ripped off paying $60+ consumer plans with data and $40+ non-data.

Oh well. Already got a few PMs lol so I'm glad it has helped some people.

Euro7r 08-21-2011 06:15 PM

Ahhhh fucking hell. Dropped my S2, two very small minor chips on the corners of the phone. Looks like I will be ordering a barely there casemate, as of right now. :fuuuuu:

Agreed, as do I and your input and guidance is much appreciated by many here, I'm sure...but I still stand by my original position:

1) I'd prefer to see these deals be discussed in the "retentions thread" not the thread that is meant specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S II.

2) It's not just the price of the plan that matters but also the content...For $30 a month (about half the price of my plan) you're getting half the features. Most of these $30 and under plans include 250 anytime minutes which simply wouldn't work for many extreme cellular users. Regardless of incoming calls free or network calling features, I prefer having the luxury of being able to use my phone like a land line and not having to worry about my minutes.

But like I said, to each their own...One plan may be suitable for a certain person but it doesn't necessary mean it's the best plan or a better plan for another that costs more money. I would like to see a plan posted here that is less than $40 that includes 500 or more MB of data and 500 or more minutes of talk time...

Oleophobic 08-21-2011 07:08 PM

agreed
I blame whoever brought up the subject of plans

shawn79 08-21-2011 07:41 PM

Me, im sorry

Euro7r 08-21-2011 08:11 PM

Were you browsing all day? Maybe you have tons of apps running in the background or whatever apps you're using are taking alot of juice

sell_item_604 08-22-2011 02:56 PM

hey guys. i might be picking this phone up tmr and i was just wondering whats best screen protector and cases u guys would recommend and also where i can buy them from

+

u know how theres crackberry.com for blackberry, what are some useful sites for s2?

!Yaminashi 08-22-2011 02:59 PM

^I would say read through the last few pages, but to save you some time I'll chime in.

Case wise, if you want the ultimate sexy get the case mate "barely there" which should be available at all best buy locations

Screen protector wise this is really up to you. I've had a couple different ones and I currently use SGP's ultra optics.

SGP products arent available locally so purchasing online is your only option

Tegra_Devil 08-22-2011 03:03 PM

stupid question:

is the S2 supposedly still going to be better than the rumoured IP5.....or at least at par?

do you guys recommend getting the s2 or just holding out for the IP5?

!Yaminashi 08-22-2011 03:06 PM

To me any android will be better just because you can customize the way you want it right out of the box
But maybe thats cause I dont suck apple's dick

Tegra_Devil 08-22-2011 03:12 PM

i dont hate nor like apple.....but i fucking hate my BB, more of looking for the best of the best, dont care about corporate greed....if they make the best, then i will buy it

In that case, like I said android imo will always be best. If you dont like something, it can be changed, and thats the beauty of it.

Thats one thing apple cannot do. Im sure the ip5 will be great, but the SGS2 is in a league of its own

*Waiting for apple fanboys*
