Going to start cutting seriously tomorrow. I'm basically following what Hondaracer did, with steak, eggs and the like. Cutting rice out (which is hard cause it's an Asian household where it's a staple) and most carbs completely. After being stuck at 250 for the last couple of weeks on what I usually eat, I want to cut down to help my athleticism a bit (and just for general health), because I'm beginning to play pick up basketball for some cardio. I have been working out regularly for the last month though, I was 255 at the start of January.

Any one else have any advice from when they cut? It's my first time doing this as well.

Thanks everyone.

Low-carbs gets alot easier after the 3rd day

i'm gonna get back on a somewhat balanced diet for a week or two then gonna go a month on nothing but chicken and veggies, gonna go 2.5 weeks none of the protein shakes and only eating my protein and check out the results

How do you guys measure your scoops? Do you guys level it off completely or pack up to the line, which is about 3/4 of the scoop?

If anything it should be rounded above the level of the scoop, if you're talking about food supplements. For stims, I would make sure to keep everything level

I know how you feel it was quite the shock when i was told not to eat rice. Although i think rice is fine PRE and POST workout because you want that spike in insulin. Otherwise yes, it will make you store fat.

well like skinnypupp has been preaching, get you're energy sources from FAT if possible. it has a Glycemic index of 0 (google glycelmic index). Also if u have to have carbs, consider its GI value first.

you ARE what you eat. Lift hard, and your metabolism will take care of the rest. I don't calorie count, but im alot leaner than i was about a year ago after paying attention to what i eat more.

Lolkai 02-13-2011 11:41 PM

MAHHHHH LEGGGGSSSSS!!!!!

jack3d 02-14-2011 01:49 PM

So what ultimately makes you fat, is it excess calories or carbs? I'm starting a cut and still a little confused. Say my maintenance is 2500 and I eat 3000 calories of protein will I put on fat? If I eat 2000 calories of all carbs, will I put on fat?

hal0g0dv2 02-14-2011 02:56 PM

if u eat 2000 calories of carbs yes u will not do your "cut"

Any of you guys have the bodybuilding power mixer? i got it as a free gift if you spend over $100, and i right now i have no clue how to turn this thing on. HOW DO I WERK THIS PIECE OF SHIT?

RRxtar 02-14-2011 04:17 PM

plug it in?

RRxtar 02-14-2011 04:19 PM

Man up your pasta:

throw out your white pasta for multigrain pasta.
fry up a shitload of ground beef and put 3 days worth into a bunch of tupperwares. freeze the ones you arent using. keep one in the fridge
add ground beef to pasta sauce.

hamburger is so cheap its almost free and extra lean ground beef is over 25% protein, the rest fat. and adding it to your side dish is like getting free protein from your carb dish.

eating for bulking costs money, but it doesnt have to be rediculous.
500g of extra lean ground beef is less than 4 bucks, split into 5 'additions' to your pasta gives you an extra 25g protein per serving. so you can break it up into more servings. or eat less meat with each meal = cheaper.

Damn shoulda gotten the mesh bb.com tshirt instead, but then again, i'm not jacked. I'd look like a mad poser with that on.

SkinnyPupp 02-14-2011 07:56 PM

I have so much free crap from bb.com

The really useful things are:

Myotape measuring tape (makes it easy to measure gains by yourself :alone: )
Bodyfat calipers (probably not the most accurate, but certainly better than scales)

The rest I just get shirts to use around the house. The did have a Jamie Eason calendar which was nice :)
