2 times is not insane
quite common actually

^ Yep Assault is wayyy cheaper at bb.com even with usual 10% off coupon. 20% is even better. Rasberry Lemonade tastes like Kool Aid.

Btw to the person who posted about whey, if you are looking for middle of the road quality and good value just stick with Kaizen from Costco (especially when on sale) or ON from bb.com Both have worked fine for me.

sonick 07-06-2012 12:20 PM

Also re: whey, ON whey (among others like Dymatize) is filtered via a chemical process called ion exchange, vs Kaizen and other brands which use a physical filtering process (e.g. cross-flow filtration). Broscience suggests ion exchange although provides higher protein concentrations, the process may produce protein with lower bioavailability than standard filtering processes.

What Is The Ion Exchange In Whey Protein Powder? | LIVESTRONG.COM

Quote:

Because of the chemical reagents used, such as hydrochloric acid, pH sensitive factions of the whey protein material may become denatured. This means that the amino acids are degraded. Some of the components often denatured include immunoglobulins---or antibodies---glycomacropeptides and other important immune system agents that boost anti-viral and anti-microbial activities. Some essential amino acids may also be lost, in addition to the ability to improve the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the digestive process.
Take it for what it's worth.

Are you saying its more beneficial for muscle gains than eating 1 times your body weight?

We're all telling you to stop whining.

If you reach your genetic potential, then you will look very similar to others who have reached their genetic potential. See pictures here. Heck, look at the pictures in any body building competition. They're going to be similar.

Maximum Muscular Potential of Drug-Free Athletes (Updated Dec 31st) | Intermittent fasting diet for fat loss, muscle gain and health

Other people can pack on mass more easily because they are willing to work harder and eat more.

Seriously, just shut up and go eat more.

Genetics play a major role in adding lean and quality mass to your frame.

A friend of mine has been 145lbs for 5 years and eats upwards of 4000 calories daily. Has not gained weight at all. Why? Metabolism/Genetics/Training. His strength has increased, but not weight. NO CARDIO.

I guarantee you not everyone counts calories. You guys like to use Halo for an example so.. he even stated he doesn't count.. just eats. I am sure he has a rough estimate in his head at least.

Instantneedles states he is FULL. I believe that. I know that feeling when I was bulking and there was no way I would be eating more.

Do you want a large portion of that food to go to fat storage or waste? Come on. How many people FAIL when they try to add mass by over eating and not doing it properly. I have seen so many people online and in person complain and completely screw up their body they have worked hard for by not adding on mass correctly.

Give the guy proper advice. He wanted some ideas on foods and diet so he can make the correct adjustments. Geez.

- I am not saying counting calories is not beneficial. It works to a certain degree as well.. but their are a lot of other factors to consider.

I don't know if 2 X grams of protein per bodyweight is accurate.

For some people it may be OKAY to consume this much protein, depending on your characteristics/body composition or other reasons.

The majority of people take in 1g per 1lb of body mass.

For me I am in the 1.5g-1.6g range

There is alot of "broscience" on this topic. Excess becomes waste etc..

If i'm wrong, please correct me.

A bit of a long read, but good overall. The relevant bit of info, soy sucks as a protein supplement.

Spoiler!

anyways went to try out FW lougheed today cus a friend got me a week free pass. Definitely more open then good life... didnt like when i was doing DL my ass was pretty much to the whole gym to see LOL felt awkwardd. the machine to free weight ratio was interesting...too many machines lol wanted more free weights. DB's seemed to have only gone to 95, which is fine i guess cus atm i only use up to 80. Definitely cheaper tho...even for being able to use all the gyms it came to 39$ a month ? plus he said he would waive my sign up fee. Im still with GL though so i had to decline , although he tried very hard to sell me it LOL.

In the end..prob wil be switching to FW after the summer, but dont think ill go to the lougheed one, will hopefully try out brentwood next

I'm aiming to fly with 409 SQN (CF-18) or 427 SQN (tactical rotaries). Where I end up will depend on a lot of factors over the next two years or so. My physical fitness blew the other candidates away at selection so I'm hoping that it continues to put me at the forefront through BMOQ and beyond.
