Haha I went anyways! Only did 3 exercises, but I had a lot of energy strangely.

And you're a lifesaver! I focused on glute activation at the top of my squats and I literally felt ZERO lower back soreness.

I've had that issue for over a month, but it got worse as time progressed. I really can't thank you enough for the suggestion!

that really sucks... It's why I always keep my belongings outside of my pockets and place them in a spot I know I won't drop my dumbbells on. Keeping things in my pockets while lifting doesn't feel natural anyway

BinsentoW 02-04-2013 06:00 PM

Well, I have music playing from it the whole time. Pockets empty otherwise

OMFG. Day 1 on Smolov squat today. After the third set the only thought running through my head was - what the fuck did I get myself into. Finished it though and it felt good.

^haha enjoy the next few weeks! Don't hesitate to take longer breaks if needed. There were times I was taking up to 10 min breaks.

End of day 9 for me. Something else clicked. I started driving my head and upperbody back into the bar asap on the way up. This allowed me to get my hips under the bar much sooner and made things so so much easier. The next 3 workouts should be easy mode if I remember what I learned in my last 2 workouts.

GFitTrain 02-04-2013 06:54 PM

You guys on Smolov are hardcore. I'm sticking to my bands for the time being.

Haha! I was trying to stick to 2-3 minutes rest between sets. My cardio is bad, lol.

Awesome man! Learning to use my glutes was a lifesaver for me too. Not only helped me with my lifts but helped a ton with everyday poor posture and back pain from poor posture.

Ahh no wonder lol. My breaks average 4-6 mins. I imagine the burn from 2-3 min breaks would hurt so so bad.

I was not sure if I could take longer then then 2 minutes. An extra minute or two would have helped so much lol!

glute activation as in squeezing the glutes at the top?

Sid Vicious 02-04-2013 07:19 PM

Dont bother counting your breaks, just go when you can. More rest = more weight pushed = MOAR STRGTH

not just squeezing them, but starting with tailbone pushed to the back and squeezing them TO drive your hips forward. if done properly it should be squeezed the entire way through and so I'm guessing fcukked didn't have em activated at the top portion of the lift?

how's your squats doing brah

hal0g0dv2 02-04-2013 08:54 PM

are you going to crush this meet or w/e you are going to instant

Phozy 02-04-2013 10:02 PM

Pulled off a 295 squat a couple months ago. Not sure if it was because i was in a rush to finish combined with lack of sleep, but i was so focused, like i was on pre-workout.
I can't seem to find that same mentality or find what i did that day that got me that squat, 275 is a struggle now.

3 plates im coming for you...

Also, 0:41 holy shit

RRxtar 02-04-2013 10:54 PM

4-6 mins between sets? do you lay down with a pillow and read a book while you hog the squat rack? lol

if you have to wait that long between sets i hope you do something else between like chin ups or something. man that has to be boring

Spoken like someone that's never done any heavy squatting. :fullofwin:
Take 90% of your 1RM. Do 10 sets of triples with it with short breaks then come back and talk lol.

As for it being boring, there is nothing boring to me about getting stronger.

The_Situation 02-04-2013 11:27 PM
