Sarcasm? I’ve been to all the highly rated pho places in calgary and they were all mid and more expensive than vancouver.

Badhobz 06-10-2025 03:35 PM

i think calgary beef is better though.... steak and everything. i dont know what it is, since we also get alberta beef, but it just taste better there.

bcrdukes 06-10-2025 03:37 PM

Calgary pho is some of the worst I've had in my travels across Canada.

Badhobz 06-10-2025 03:39 PM

i recall it was okay... i havent been there in like 15 years though. my sophisticated kfc palate might have changed.

bcrdukes 06-10-2025 03:42 PM

You are dead to me. I hate Toyota.

Ok joking aside, pho beef is pho beef. I'm generalizing but the taste/flavour is immaterial. It's like me telling you all Lunch Lady is worth a 2 hour wait and $35 price tag for pho. Just no.

But holy jeez, the broth, the noodles, I don't know what it is about Calgary Vietnamese places, but it just sucks ass. Are they trying to just fool the locals with their half ass broth? Do they not care about the quality or take pride in their signature soup? You go to these "top rated" 5 star Google Yelp blogger-reviewed places and I can't help but painstakingly go through this weak ass pho. I think gruel from a refugee centre might taste better.

68style 06-10-2025 03:50 PM

We have found a couple of pretty decent places

bcrdukes 06-10-2025 03:55 PM

You have no food credibility. Someone ban this guy for spreading fake news.

My favourite one was in NE with bone marrow pho for $18, it was fire.

Vancouver pho is better on average but Calgary had enough standouts where you can avoid all the bad ones.

Come on now, you don't have pho to get a taste for the region's beef...

You have pho to satisfy a craving!

Were these places full of Vietnamese customers, or white truckers? :p

PICS OR YOU DIE !

As the resident fat fuck, one look from my lard filled eyes will deem whether or not its better than pho in vancouver.

noclue 06-10-2025 04:37 PM

Saigon Deli in the hood of calgary was really good - I thought it was better than banh mi saigon in Victoria drive.

Teriyaki 06-10-2025 05:10 PM

Speaking of Pho, never tried in Calgary but we hit up this place in Edmonton and it is hands down the best Pho I have ever had. Hate all parts of deadmonton, but I still think about this place's noodles in my sleep sometimes. It was perfection in a bowl. no joke.

I've had plenty of beef in Alberta. I honestly did not think it was noticeably better than what we have here. It's good, but if I were to do a blind taste test I don't think I'd be able to discern which is which and beef is my favourite meat.

Badhobz 06-11-2025 09:38 AM

yeah you like dem beef curtains eh ?

spoon.ek9 06-11-2025 09:41 AM

better than Abalone :lol

bcrdukes 06-11-2025 09:57 AM

With or without supreme sauce? :suspicious:

spoon.ek9 06-11-2025 10:03 AM

beef > abalone

no matter how it's made

For those living in Burnaby, you can unload your junk for free at Still Creek tomorrow.

Back by popular demand, for 1 day, we’re inviting you to drop off any kind of household junk you’ve got at the Still Creek Works Yard—even items we don’t normally accept! On June 14, bring your hard-to-dispose items to the Still Creek Works Yard (across from the Eco-Centre) and we’ll recycle what we can, and divert the rest into the appropriate waste stream at no charge.

This is the perfect time to get rid of some of that clutter around your home, including items that would normally need to be taken to a Metro Vancouver facility and be charged a fee for disposal. Bring us items like:
  • Mattresses
  • Old furniture
  • Scrap metal and appliances (big and small)
  • Bagged garbage
  • Recyclables (cardboard, mixed paper, mixed containers, etc.)
  • Paints, solvents, aerosol cans
  • Electronics
  • Batteries (household, car)
  • Many other categories of household junk!

Vancouver has the DTES, you can literally roll up, dump your shit in an alley, and drive away.

Probably too many people in Vancouver…

Richmond also has a large item pickup available to its residents 6 times per year.

Badhobz 06-14-2025 08:11 AM

Richmond is no problem. You leave shit out and some ah bak or ah mo will come by and take it (GUANGDONG HOARDERS!!!) regardless if it has value or not.

I saw this bak take this broken tricycle with 1 out of 3 wheels missing. He just sat on it and half pushed/rode it down the street while carrying a huge bag of recyclable's.

6793026 06-16-2025 06:36 AM

richmond's garbage / recycling depot is legit. super easy to get to and people are super nice. But yes, as Gumby said.. there is large item pickup avaiable.

68style 06-16-2025 09:02 AM

^ One of those Richmond depot guys bought my white Taurus SHO, even 3 years later he sometimes sends me pictures of places he drove it to and updates me on what he's done to it lol

red kryptonite 06-16-2025 10:28 AM

Reminds me of the guy that bought my celica way back. One day i got a pic of it totaled from DUI.
