Don't you guys go to the Zero Waste Center down by Marine Drive next to Marine Gateway from time to time?

https://vancouver.ca/home-property-d...te-centre.aspx

From what I can tell, they seem to take most (but not all) of this stuff.

Mattresses
Old furniture
Scrap metal and appliances (big and small)
Bagged garbage
Recyclables (cardboard, mixed paper, mixed containers, etc.)
Paints, solvents, aerosol cans
Electronics
Batteries (household, car)
Many other categories of household junk!

Actual junk (such as mattresses, old furniture, bagged garbage) will need to go to the transfer station nearby on W. Kent Ave, and you have to pay a disposal fee.

Most of the other items you listed can be disposed of at the Zero Waste Centre on Yukon St. for free.

Just heard a brilliant idea! You know how certain places give you birthday goodies, like SB, Cartem's, Tim Horton's, De Dutch, Chat Time, Booster Juice, etc. This only works for apps and not when you have to show ID. Put different dates throughout the year as your birthday, then you can enjoy a goodie, once a month or whenever. Apps usually send you a code or something, no ID needed. Plus, who can use all the free drinks, etc. all on one day, some will go to waste as you can't possibly consume all the free stuff. Why didn't I think of this ??!!

Here's a list of all the freebies on your birthday, which is show ID and which is app based.

Look at this offer Kelly/Carolos O'Bryan Neighbourhood House !! - https://www.kobcob.com/birthday/?utm...edium=referral

Idea went viral five years ago.

Plus about 10 years ago, I remember hearing about some dude who registered 365 Starbucks cards, one for every day of the year for free daily drinks.

I was going to post this earlier, but had no idea if this pizza was any good or not. Anyway, the deal ends tonight. Red Swan Pizza. There's one on Edmonds next door to Sushi One (never been there, either). $6.95 for a medium pizza (12 inch pan). Pick up only and limit of four. I'm having one now. Damn, it's extra tasty knowing how cheap it is.

The crust has sesame seeds on it, so if you're not into sesame seeds......... nuff said.

Hondaracer 06-22-2025 11:50 PM

Sushi On?

That’s my go to in that area, it’s very good

yeah, Safeway offer is over........ I bet it will come back. It was pretty popular.

I had the Uncle Willy's chicken once. It's okay, but not worth going out of the way for.

I went on the last day of the Safeway deal and don't know if it was on purpose or not, but the pieces were Godzilla sized. Okay, maybe condor sized.

The “ + “ they use to between flavours leads me to believe it’s for all 3, making this a good deal for noodles that’s about to “expire”.

lol are instant noodles really $2.xx a square when not one sale these days :suspicious:

was so close to pull the trigger, but wife said expiry aug 2025. how the falk am i going to finish it all... it is a LOT of noodles (even if i keep 30 only)

whitev70r 06-26-2025 06:52 AM

^ you don't belong in this thread if expiry date on instant noodle bothers you (or your wife).

Expiry dates on produce, OK, I pay more attention to that but wth could go wrong on instant noodle??!!

CivicBlues 06-26-2025 07:46 AM

lol @ expiry dates on Indomie, that shit will survive the apocalypse.

MG1 06-26-2025 10:06 AM

I have Sapporo Ichiban that expired a few months ago, no issues. After about 6 months, the noodles start to go funky. Nothing unhealthy, but that oily smell............... nuff said.

GS8 06-26-2025 10:16 AM

There's enough salt to keep that stuff in stasis!

Only thing to worry about is the overall humidity where it's being stored which would impact the noodles' integrity but that's still a long time away. Just don't keep it in a shed underneath a leaky deck.

we had some stock piled before (and then we just slowly don't eat that much nissan noodles etc) and yeah, after 9 mths 1 yr mark, the oil smell becomes too much ... i'm asian and even i had to throw that shit away

MG1 06-30-2025 08:20 AM

Old man's reading comprehension skills still good...............

The Indomie just arrived. Fucking Purolator, see it way later, damaged the boxes. One looked like something very heavy fell on it. the others corner damage.

Anyway, one did indeed have an expiry date of August. November and December for the other two.
