Not every model from Rogers work right out of the box for Fido. The iPhone and the Lumia line comes to mind.

Are you referring to the new generation iPhones with microSIM's? I wonder if its the way you unlock the iPhone being such a bitch as it is, it would cause problems no matter which carrier you go with.

I remember when we were in the Philippines and trying to use their SIM's on my buddies iPhone was just murder.

Still, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't apply to phones which use normal SIM cards. I have yet to encounter problems using phones like an iPhone 3Gs on various Roger's affiliates.

It depends on the seller.
Check feedbacks and ratings
I'd bought many new unlocked phones from ebay sellers without a problem. Most seller from Asia offer free UPS or Fedex 2 - 3 business days shipping.
Some seller sell new phones but not sealed so if you want a sealed one then contact the seller to make sure and if you want a particular region (ie: Singapore, German, Hong Kong etc..) ask the seller as well.

As for duties, for UPS and Fedex there are usually brokerage fees. For canada post / purolator it's usually 12% on the listed price of the package

Email from ROGERS..my note 2 is on backorder :okay:

Anyone know if they'd let me pick one up at a retail? I ordered it through retentions.

Did u get a discount on the phone? If not just have them load the offer on your account and do it at retail level.
I've done it before, as long as you're on a consumer plan cuz corporate's a bitch to renew at store.

Rogers phones are more easier to find. Just tell them you found a store that has it in stock and you don't want to wait.

Yeah I did get a discount. They waived the entire upgrade fee.

Upgrade fee shouldn't be a problem, should already be noted.

Just give them a call and tell them about the backorder and you found a phone locally that you want to pick up.

It would work on their GSM / 3G network.

Why not get one when you are in Australia? They sell the International (N7100 and N7105)

The 3G version works, but not the LTE (Australia uses a different band). If you are in Aus, I would just get a 2 year contract with Optus/Telstra. They heavily subsidize the iphone 5 and SGS3/Note 2.

Can anyone recommend a great screen protector for the note 2? I'm just worried that maybe some screen protectors will make my stylus pen not so responsive.

Currently I have a really good plan and if I cancel it when I come back I may not get it again. I am hoping to use my HUP so I don't have to buy it out right and so I can use it when I move back.

Really? Do you happen to know what the prices are like there? I am going there for school and just trying to limit as much expense as I can as everything costs so much there

So you're gonna keep paying for your plan here while you're away? Wouldn't that be more expensive?

You planning to pay 2 years of service that you can't use while you are in Australia just to keep this plan when you may or may not be back after your 2 years education there? I'm not judging, I'm just curious.

As for prices there. Here are the telecom website mentioned earlier
https://www.optus.com.au/ and Telstra

SumAznGuy 11-11-2012 03:49 PM

Not sure which carrier you are with but with Fido and Rogers, I believe you can have them put a hold on your contract for people who know they will be away and will not use the service for an indeffinate period.
