Just saw this on the Province. Will probably be stupid. Canucks vow to wow fans with new pre-game show at Saturday’s home-opener If you’re one of the nearly 19,000 fans heading to Rogers Arena on Saturday for the Canucks’ home-opener, the club suggests you get to your seat early. A new pre-game presentation is, the team claims, unique to sporting venues in North America. It will blow your socks off, they suggest. “Every year we try to deliver the best experience for the fans,” Ali Gardiner, vice-president of brand development for the Canucks, said. “This year we think we’ve raised the bar. “This is a whole new level of video and storytelling.” And the Canucks went all the way to Rossland to find it. Rossland has several secrets it guards jealously: Its mountain biking, its skiing, the Flying Steamshovel. And Juicy Studios. Juicy has done videos for the likes of EA Sports and S-Works. And they’ve produced shorts that make even the NHL lockout last season look funny and force you to emphasize with a Ford tractor put out to pasture after flooding the ice at Rossland Arena for 39 years. “The Ford ice-flooder, that was a tear-jerker,” Scotty Carlson, the president of Juicy, said. Someone with the Canucks saw the Ford feature as part of a film festival, and the end result is the new pre-game light/video show. “For a little guy who dreamed of playing hockey in the NHL, this is as close as I’m going to get,” Carlson, 34, said. The music for the presentation was composed by Ajay Bhattacharyya of Victoria, the narration handled by North Vancouver hip-hopper and Canucks fan David Coles, better known as Kyprios. “It embodies the fans’ sentiments over all these years,” Carlson said. “The Canucks are a team other fans want to see fail. We wanted to do something that embodies Canucks hockey, captures how the fans feel, something that will really amp up the fans to see the game. “It’s gritty, it’s a dark narrative, a story people can follow from where we’ve been as a team to where we’re going.” It’s pretty hard to describe the pre-game show without having seen it. But Carlson said Juicy Studios did its best to capture authenticity. For example? “We wanted to show the Sedins in a new light. Part of it showcases the grit and fire these guys have.” Um, Roberto Luongo? “Lui, his return is an old story. He knows what he wants to accomplish this year and I think that comes through.” It’s something the Canucks can’t wait to unveil. “We’re like nervous parents waiting to show our baby to the world,” Gardiner said. yea..we'll see.. after my 25 page thread on CDC about how terrible the U2 opening was and litterally 95% of people posting either rock or metal as a replacement, "DJ Dave" replied that he had somthing up his sleeve what was "up his sleeve" was a soft fucking techno remix, i was at the game that it changed and it was absolutely pathetic |
Man I must not have watched Canadian TV in a while, every time they say "out" I cringe  |
