Yeah but interesting one dose of pfizer only seems to provide 10% protection?

Phew for having my second dose already

just fucking destroyed sleeping all day.

Hits everyone differently. I know people who got super sick and I know others who were just fine, including my parents.

Got my 2nd Pfizer dose a couple of hours ago. Hoping I’ll be fine enough to have some friends by for UFC tomorrow.

Problem is, even if you don't get KO'd by the virus if you have the vaccine, you are still somewhat contagious and it will keep going and going until herd immunity is achieved.

And even then, if a country has herd immunity but open borders, they basically don't have herd immunity.

Turns out it was in fact the masks at the gym, since ditching them, my lungs seem to be back to normal now.

I never wanted to be a Karen on the subject, but I was curious what type of detrimental effects the masks would create to one's lungs, it seems like that particular idea was pretty much stamped down during COVID, and likely fairly so.

But to say "masks don't inhibit lung function whatsoever" was total garbage, IMHO.

I don't think it's possible for quality masks to have any effect on your breathing while you're not wearing one...

BTW I started going to the gym this week and we still have to wear masks full time indoors (despite next to zero local infection per week) and it FUCKING SUCKS. People sneak their masks down occasionally and the gym doesn't seem to care though. At least you can "drink" after a set and catch your breath, but forget doing anything high reps. Especially since I got incredibly out of shape.

If the Delta variant really is going to be the motherfucker everyone says it is all we have to do is watch what happens in the US because they're pretty much back to normal now. It's literally a crystal ball into what would happen if sold out arenas and no masks was a thing, with less of a vaccination rate to boot.

twitchyzero 07-09-2021 08:52 PM

political science of trudeau goes something like this:

75% 1st dose 25% 2nd dose
how about 75% 2nd dose
2nd dose gotta be up in the 80's

yeah but fully-vaccinated can be asymptomatic doe
in the coming weeks 2x (already used those exact same words weeks ago)
gonna be a while (why thank you for the non-quantitative plan)

i'd love to speak to the team consulting this guy

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/corona...2021-1.6095951

In the Americas, U.S. health officials say vaccinated teachers and students don't need to wear masks inside school buildings. The guidance, announced Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, generally leaves it to local officials to figure out how to ensure the unvaccinated are using precautions while letting those who are fully protected go mask-free. :heckno:

In Europe, France's health minister on Friday said the more contagious delta variant of the coronavirus will probably account for a majority of new COVID-19 cases in the country, starting this weekend. :accepted:

Olivier Veran said the variant now represents nearly 50 per cent of new infections. He has said that a fourth wave of COVID-19 could hit France as early as the end of July and is urging as many people as possible to get vaccinated.

This is a good article (not fear mongering, not panicking, but warns of complacency.)
At this point there is going to be a lot of personal responsibility, which is a scary prospect being that we know how stupid some people can be. At this point if you are refusing the vaccine, or refusing to cut out social contact as the caveat to being unvaccinated, you are personally responsible for this pandemic having the chance to continue.
Basically, you’re a drain on society, by choice.

Hondaracer 07-10-2021 10:11 AM

At this point there is nothing else fully vaccinated people should be expected to do. We all did our part.

If the govt. is worried about unvaccinated people being the catalyst to prolonging the pandemic then start enforcing vaccine passports for non-essential activities. It’s pretty simple

Guaranteed there’s gonna be some bullshit campaign by the govt. at all levels to “tell your unvaccinated friends and family to do the right thing!!”

It’s no one else’s job to try and convince morons to get vaccinated anymore. Your move Trudeau.

westopher 07-10-2021 10:52 AM

Unless the governments make it mandatory, what else can they do? You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.
I agree vaccinated people have done their part and there’s nothing really left to do. You can’t blame Trudeau at this point though when you’d have absolutely shit your pants if you were told that vaccination was mandatory, or at the prospect of vaccination passports trampling on peoples rights. Not everything gets to be trudeau’s fault if you’d blame him for either option chosen to a given question.

got my 2nd of that funky cold moderna, convention centre was quick 'n easy.
5g reception up to full bars and intense desire to buy microsoft products.

JSALES 07-10-2021 01:02 PM

My cousin got his second dose of moderna, same as his first dose. The symptoms he had were fever and twitching uncontrollably for some reason 8-10 hours after the second dose

chipmunk604 07-10-2021 07:25 PM

I got my 2nd dose of pfizer (same as D1) last evening and I woke up very sluggish - just didn't feel like getting up. The chills kicked in later in the afternoon. Arm is also sore af, I will probably pop a Tylenol and go to bed as soon as ufc is over. Zzzzzzz

The Delta variant is the Indian variant, IIRC.

Anyone see the videos being posted at the Calgary Stampede for the last few nights?

MASSIVE shows with tons of people packed together. It's like everything is back to normal in Alberta :lol

Honestly at this point I really hope that in 2-3 weeks from now AB fares well. I mean they chose to be the guinea pigs in what happens when vaccines are introduced to a mass gathering, and it can serve as either positive evidence that shit is going to be alright, or see a huge spike and at least BC can learn from that as well.

2 weeks in I see more and more people with no masks in public places (people of all demographics). That said I still know there are assholes because there's a guy at my work who openly told me he's not getting vaccinated because he's young and healthy, and when July 1st came around he was the first to rip of his mask. People like that are why I still wear mine indoors.

Hondaracer 07-11-2021 09:13 PM

We’re more vaccinated than the states which has all Disney properties fully opened no masks, all the sporting events that have been happening for months in the states, full capacity, no masks.

I think they’ve been the guinea pigs for for quite some time now snd given the vaccine numbers have been seemingly fairly quite well.

Actually US numbers are all trending up in both case count and hospitalizations, so that's not a country we want to follow by example...
