That's not a good deal so Canucks couldn't and shouldn't keep him.

Yah I like Horvat, I think he's worth more than we got for him.... but I also think this season is not the norm for him in any way, shape or form.

He's also been historically pretty injury prone up to Age 27 now, so what's he going to be like 30+? He's only played a full season in 3/8 years prior... usually misses about 10-20 games.

They have cap space, varlamov comes off the books this year. That's 5m + the current 2m they have in cap space + any lift in the salary cap.

Beauvillier fits what the Canucks were looking for - a mid-20s roster player on a down year. He should be a lock for 50pts a year (20g 30assist), and hopefully makes one of Boeser / Garland expendable... similar performance at a reduced cap hit.

Honestly not that bad. Raty has potential, and best case scenario Isle pick 11/12 this year, can’t resign Horvat and are dog shit next year. Definitely a trade that will need to be reevaluated in 2-3 years.

As much as I would like that to happen I don't think anyone takes that without the Canucks retaining some salary (or taking a bad contract back)...

He’s literally known for the opposite lol..

In almost every playoff we scraped into he was one of the only performers. Which makes it even worse giving him up because those types of players who actually elevate their game in the playoffs are so few and far between

He’s only been to playoffs twice so not much of a sample size but he got 10 goals in 17 games during the bubble including when he walked around half the Blues line

Well, if this trade involving Horvat does not result in the team acquiring a right hand shot defenceman, Allvin and Rutherford need to trade for that kind of player.

They need to pull a rabbit out of a hat during this Lunar Year of the Rabbit for a right handed d-man haha.
