Hmm I think I got him mixed up with Toffoli, my bad. He had 4 points and -4 on that run

They need to pull a rabbit out of a hat during this Lunar Year of the Rabbit for of a right handed d-man haha.

Which RHD are on the market though? Klingberg?

whitev70r 01-30-2023 05:51 PM

Allvin pumping his own tires ... Allvin on Horvat return: 'It's kind of like we got three first rounders back'

So for the All-Star game, does Bo wear a Canuck or a NYI jersey?

The Official 2022/2023 Canucks & NHL Thread

Who is going to be the new captain now?

Should the Canucks just play the rest of the season with assistant captains and choose a new captain for the next season?

My money is on Petterson to start with the C next season.

whitev70r 01-30-2023 06:19 PM

Go with assistants for the rest of the season.

bobbinka 01-30-2023 08:15 PM

Sounds like Raty's got huge potential. Just wish the pick wasn't lotto protected.

Gumby 01-30-2023 08:18 PM

What is a “protected” pick?

whitev70r 01-30-2023 08:20 PM

Feb 9th .. circle that date. Horvat will get a chance to show his buddies around NY.

spoon.ek9 01-30-2023 08:40 PM

now i gotta get tickets to the next NYI @ VAN game so hopefully Bo can sign my jersey :alone:

If the NYI land a top 12 pick in this coming draft, then they retain it and VAN gets NYI's 2024 1st round draft pick unprotected. If NYI's first round pick is not in the top 12, then VAN gets it.

Unfortunately, NYI already came to VCR once already so it won't be this year.

And it depends if Lou Lamoriello can sign him to a long term contract.

So Canucks would want NYI to have a top 12 pick this year and hope that NYI is really bad the following year so that Canucks can have their better pick? ... is that the thinking?

I mean conversely, if NYI does really well this year and they get a 13th or later pick ... then that becomes a so so pick as part of the Bo Horvat package.

Canucks - which is dumb

It's too late to realign the setup for a player changing conferences

Yeah, I checked the calendar already to see that. I don't think NYI would give up what they did without some inkling that Bo was willing to sign a long term deal. But anyways, time will tell. Regardless, I still would like to have Bo sign my jersey wherever he ends up.

Have you done that before, gotten a player to sign a jersey at the game? You know where to look for them where they might have time, etc?

Toff got hurt for playoffs and came back still playing hurt that time cuz we were outmatched by Vegas

Noise about not signing Toff sure died down since he sucked after 1 great season in Montreal tho haha

People wait for players to leave the underground parking lot hoping they’ll stop.

pastarocket 01-31-2023 08:46 AM

Here's an idea about selecting the next captain for the Canucks.

IF Schenn is still with the team for next season, make Luke Schenn the captain.

He's a vocal player, a veteran d-man who plays pretty well defensively compared to OEL and Meyers, and a former Stanley Cup champion.

Schenn has the respect of most, if not all of the players in the locker room, in my opinion.

Take the "A" off OEL's jersey, because Eckman Larsson's level of play this season and pretty much his entire career with the Canucks has not helped earn the assistant captain role.

Give the assistant captain role to Hughes.

Schenn is a good mentor. He would help Quinn a lot in terms of learning what it takes to be a team leader, a captain of the team.

When Schenn is no longer playing for the Canucks, then Schenn hands over the captaincy to Hughes.

Taking the assistant captain role from OEL might be a good way to piss him off so that OEL waives his NTC and demands a trade from the team ahahah. A good way for the team to dump even more salary hahahaa.

highfive 01-31-2023 09:43 AM

Schenn's probably gone if they get a good offer.

Man...this trade shows clearly Canucks twitter / media is fucking toxic.

Before trade - "canucks didn't even meet his agent! OMG!" "canucks can't do this to the captain!" "they need to trade Bo for CAP SPACE AND PICKS" "REBUILD" "TANK"

After the trade - "too late to tank now, schedule too easy" "didn't get good value" "why no dman?"

Not defending management but fuck...people sound like they never know what they want. It's like asking your partner where to go for dinner and never know where to decide to and end up not happy with whatever they're eating that night.

68style 01-31-2023 09:54 AM

I think it was pretty clear, people wanted a RHD, a prospect and a high pick.

We got an expensive underperforming winger, a prospect who doesn't skate well (they said the same thing about Horvat at first, hopefully he can fix that!) and is projecting maybe top 9 and a conditional pick... and we kept salary...

So it's not ideal.

That said, I have NO IDEA what the Islanders are doing... they're not currently in the playoffs and they might not have a 1st pick in 4 consecutive drafts. Horvat is not their answer and they basically sold out to get him like they're gearing up for a big cup run or something.

I feel bad for Bo tbh, NYI isn't in much better a position than VAN.

I read somewhere that this is a rare lose-lose trade... both teams come out not looking so good as expected. I think that's fair actually.

You have to remember Canuck fanbase is an entire community of hundreds of thousands of people, not a single entity.

You're never going to please everyone unless you get something as lopsided as McDavid 1 for 1 trade.

It's not always the same people complaining, but none the less, someone will be complaining.

Not necessarily.. Lamoriello doesn’t like jersey numbers higher than 30. He’ll allow it if a player with NHL experience comes into their organization sporting a higher number, and in NYI’s case, Casey Cizikas already did that wearing 53. Bo would’ve worn 35 (his preferred #) but I guess Lou said, “sorry kid.”

whitev70r 01-31-2023 05:45 PM

WTF ... Lou has some really weird and strange 'rules'. Good thing Bo doesn't generally have a lot of facial hair, beard, etc.
