2 Elias’ 1 Cup

bobbinka 01-31-2024 05:33 PM

he's had 2 seasons of 80 points with the Flames when they still had Gaudreau and Tkachuk. scored 40 goals in 21-22.

hopefully playing on a high fire power team will help reignite the scoring touch. but even if it can't, still better to have a reliable player on the ice.

Selke finalist a couple of years ago too

TjAlmeida 01-31-2024 05:50 PM

32nd overall pick or not, canucks ain’t deep enough to be giving away 1st/2nd rounders.

Honestly it felt like he was too dumb to play in Tochetts system, and Tochett, to his credit gave him chance after chance and he still let him down. I don’t think his lack of scoring was really an issue but moreso being a constant defensive liability

Kuzy was too "smart" to work hard... in his mind. He can't even be part of the 2-way system if he's out of breath every shift. Gives me Kyle Wellwood vibes.

How did the public get that so wrong. Majority of people wanted Bo to stay and Miller to be traded!

no, no lol. no correlation. I'm just saying the timing was coincidental. To be fair, last year was an absolute shit show so it was hard for anyone to correctly judge what was going on in that locker room. Miller was just a convenient scapegoat because he lets his emotions out for all to see. In the end, I think vast majority of us can agree that Bo at $8.5M was definitely not going to happen here.

If they get Tanev back plan the damn parade right now

spoon.ek9 01-31-2024 07:23 PM

I mean, unless they trade Mikheyev... how else could we possibly fit Tanev under the cap? Who else would they be willing to let go? I'm not against having Tanev for defensive depth but it doesn't seem likely.

teggy604 01-31-2024 07:36 PM

Most of the players are in their prime already. So I guess the push to win the cup is now. Giving Petey what he wants. He wants to win now.

pastarocket 01-31-2024 07:40 PM

Allvin is going all in this season with this trade.

Maybe he thinks that this team with added depth at centre is a legit championship tender.

I like this trade
I guess u gotta pay the higher price tag to trade within the divison like this
both picks are for 2024, little risk here.
prospects are simply still a crap shoot.

Lindholm is good, and now hes surrounded by talent, he will shine here.

EvoFire 01-31-2024 07:51 PM

Feels like a bit of an overpayment for a rental and I'm not sure there's a desire to sign Lindholm here. Sure it's a 32nd pick if we win, and Kuz is pretty much a free asset, but damn does it feel like we gave up a lot.

Tim Budong 01-31-2024 08:02 PM

Kuzy off the books for next season means capspace to add to this team.
Win today, improve for next season. this is how i see it.

EvoFire 01-31-2024 08:05 PM

^ True, in a way, bit of a cap dump for Kuz who doesn't seem like he fits in

spoon.ek9 01-31-2024 08:12 PM

I'm excited but also nervous. This season has been such a wild ride!

it's possible if 50% retained by flames + another 25% retained by 3rd team

bobbinka 01-31-2024 08:20 PM

Tim Budong 01-31-2024 08:34 PM

they want a 1st for Tanev lmao

spoon.ek9 01-31-2024 08:39 PM

well, of course they do lol. sigh...

The Canucks will likely lose a bunch of our bottom guys next year I.e. Dakota etc and our team will not be the same we may even digress a bit. Sure the big 5 are having great years and the spotlight for our success is there but our bottom 6 is doing a fine job and it shouldn't be taken lightly. This is our so called all in year if any.

When I first saw the trade the initial gut reaction was damn 5 pieces for 1! But taking a step back I don't think it's too bad this isn't quantity over quality..

Kuzi think what you will this was a way to rid ourselves of 5.5 for next year he wasn't going to fit on this team with Tochett.

1st rounder will be later one

4th rounder is nothing let's be honest

Jurmo I'll admit I don't know shit all but he isn't a remotely highly touted prospect of ours

Hunter yea he's having a great year and when you see a player leading the OHL or any league for that matter in points you automatically think oh shit this kid must be nuts but the reality is Hunter will likely end up being a 3rd pair D if he even makes it in the NHL.

Sure sure YMMV Hunter could become the next Bobby Orr and the Flames may draft superstars withbthe 1st and 4th but the likelihood of any ofbthese things happening is extremely low.

I'm just enjoying the ride it's fun to see us as real buyers at the deadline and swing for the fences.

murd0c 02-01-2024 07:22 AM

This is such a fantastic trade and in reality we didn't give much for him, yes the package seems big but we didn't have to give up one of our top prospects which is key. It's slim pickings after pick 20 in the draft so it's not like we will have a chance to draft a top talent (there could always be a dark horse). Getting rid of Kuzy and opening up that 5.5mill of cap space next year is even a bigger positive and if Lindholm can get back to playing the way he can when he plays with better players this should be a slam dunk.

68style 02-01-2024 07:40 AM

Yah, the only part I even winced about in this trade was Hunter... and that's just assuming he pans out... and that's a big assumption given he's only in the OHL right now.

Everything else was fodder and I like Kuzmenko but he was done done done here. I think he was only playing the last few games to showcase him a bit. Thank goodness he made that amazing blind pass to Suter the other game lol

whitev70r 02-01-2024 08:29 AM

What is salary exchanged ... Kuzy was $5.5M ... what is Lindholm? Not that it matters much if he is UFA next year but they say, subtraction of a heavy contract is also an upgrade so if Canucks shed $5.5M of room next yeart, they'll need it for Petey

HonestTea 02-01-2024 08:37 AM

The odds barely moved, Canucks are behind Stars, Avs and Oilers to win the West and 7th favorite to win the cup.
