Got a new alarm on sat.
Installed yesterday - B&M short shifter with a skunk2 knob (Best knob I've had yet, cause of the weight)
Installed tonight - JDM side markers

^ yes sir!

my shifter still rattles cuz of that b & m short shifter...not too sure how I'm going to fix that yet...

bmwwheelman 03-07-2006 12:48 PM

probably need new bushings or something, sounds like something down there is loose ;)

notice any difference in your steering tightness with that strut tower bar?

proshoraca 03-08-2006 03:50 PM

modded a screw in to my tire, 2 in one week in same tire, and the another in different tire a month later, holy crap.

your right, I do need bushings and sleeves..but b&m doesn't make any for that shifter, and the stock ones don't fit...trust me ;) haha

as far as the strut tower bar...a little more stiff for sure, but I'm still on winter tires and just put stuff back together on my car, so I havn't cornered real hard yet..

try and find some brass aftermarket shifter bushings.. they are usually easily found on ebay.. i put them in my DSM and it stiffened up shifting quite a bit!

ColinK 03-08-2006 04:41 PM

^ hmm...you think that'll fix the rattling my shifter makes? Cuz i'm not really too sure what is hitting what that causes the rattle at high rpm

fourtirefire 03-08-2006 04:46 PM

oh... i'm not sure.. brass would cause it to give you even more feedback without the mushy stock rubber in there... maybe polyurethane is the way to go then, i'm sure energy suspension makes some for your car.

Tchleung 03-08-2006 05:15 PM

I used washers. lol

ColinK 03-08-2006 06:14 PM

^ on what? the shift linkage?

Tchleung 03-08-2006 06:16 PM

in between the shfiter and the linakge where the bolt goes through the shafts. the gapw as too wide so my bushings were rattlnig around till I shimmed it.

ColinK 03-08-2006 06:20 PM

really eh? hmm...I'll have to give that shot next time she's up on anthonys hoist haha

USDM oil filter

Then ripped the valve cover off and tightened my rockers...quitened the motor down quite a bit but one of them is still slapping...gotta get a torque wrench...dunno which one it is, and don't want to overtighten the rest of them...
